The appetite for the major return of one of the UK’s biggest ever bands is still rife among fans, with many desperate to watch the iconic girls take to the stage once more. On March 25, the 48-year-old made an eagerly-anticipated appearance on the Today Show in the US.
Teasing the viewers, she confessed: “Us five are working on something that is gonna be announced soon”, before adding: “I’m gonna get in trouble.” Following the bombshell, Mel B scurried off, leaving her adoring supporters desperate for more.

At the peak of her powers, alongside Emma Bunton, Geri Horner, Victoria Beckham and Melanie Chisholm, Mel B sold 105million records, making her band, the best-selling girl group of all time.
The ratings for Today, hosted by Hoda Kotb and Jenna Bush Hager, will have undoubtedly have resulted in a huge spike for NBC, with both presenters more than aware that Mel B always provides the goods.
Gagging for a scoop, Jenna said: “Since you were on our show last time, y’all put out a throwback video, there’s a lot of rumours, there’s little Easter eggs everywhere, it’s time for you to just break the news!”
The pop star, who was sporting a high-neck cobalt blue dress, replied: “Well, I can’t because I always get told off because I’m the blabbermouth, but I think I’ve said this to you before: us five are working on something that is gonna be announced soon.”
Pushing for more, Jenna asked: “Can we go see you on tour?” with Mel B responding: “You’re gonna be able to…” before realising that she may have said too much. The artist covered her mouth with her hands, and insisted: “Ooohhhhh I’m gonna get in trouble! I’m not saying anything.” She quickly rushed off set, exclaiming: “Okay bye!”
Mel B has a history of jumping the gun, recently telling the Loose Women panel: “We are definitely doing something… I’m probably going to get told off, but I’ve said it, there we go! We are doing something this year. I’m in trouble now….”
Having scaled the musical mountain, the bond between the five-piece is forged in fire. No matter how much time passes, the chance of the girls getting back together remains a constant possibility. Thus, while they haven’t all performed together since 2012 and in 2019 minus Victoria, as the old adage goes, never say never.
