Katie Price ‘cut off’ by BBC star as she rants about driving ban on Woman’s Hour

Katie Price was abruptly cut off by BBC Radio 4’s Woman’s Hour host Clare McDonnell after she started ranting about her driving ban and the DVLA.

The mum-of-five, 45, was discussing her struggles with getting her license back after her ban expired when Clare had to step in. She reminded listeners that “the DVLA aren’t here” to share their side of the story while Katie vented.

During her chat on Woman’s Hour, Katie also spoke about her experiences with cosmetic surgery, advising young women to do their research before going under the knife, and her life as a single mum raising a disabled child. The star, known for her resilience, was also asked about her multiple driving bans and recent bankruptcy news.

Towards the end of the interview, Clare asked Katie about personal responsibility, saying: “You say you are taking it. You have had two bankruptcies and recently lost your license again – you were caught driving when you should have been allowed to. How much of that do you say ‘ok, I can criticise the press when they’ve been intrusive but a certain amount of this I have to take on the chin’? “.

Katie snapped back, saying she “didn’t even know” about her second bankruptcy and is still figuring it out. She said, “there’s nothing to be ashamed of. It is what it is and you have to deal with it.”, reports the Mirror. Clare wanted a quick reply about Katie’s driving issues as they were running out of time.

“The driving thing is a different story because I have my licence – I got it back in April – but unfortunately… if there is anyone listening from the DVLA, please contact me because the reason why I haven’t got my license is my doctors have filled out [fit the drive forms], I did my blood tests last summer that showed no alcohol, but there’s somebody that keeps emailing the DVLA saying I’m not fit to drive….”

“Ok. Alright,” Clare cut in, trying to move on, but Katie wasn’t done. “I can’t contact anyone from the DVLA,” she insisted. “It takes four to six weeks to process that but you’ve had my doctors four times to say I can drive.” Clare tried to end the conversation, repeating “ok” and telling Katie: “We will have to leave that there. Obviously they’re not here to put over their side of the argument.”

Earlier this month, Katie was hit with an £880 fine after being found guilty of driving without a licence and insurance. The 45 year old mum-of-five didn’t turn up to her court hearing at Northampton Magistrates’ Court. She was accused of driving her Range Rover on the A14 in Kettering, Northamptonshire, without the right papers on August 2, 2023.

Katie had already been banned from driving in December 2021. She got a two-year driving ban after she crashed her BMW near Partridge Green on September 28, 2021. She also got a 16-week suspended jail sentence for drink-driving while disqualified and uninsured.
