Sunday Brunch guest Amy Newsome couldn’t hide her plaster-covered fingers during the latest instalment.
She appeared alongside hosts Simon Rimmer and Tim Lovejoy on this morning (March 31) and both presenters spotted the plasters as Amy prepared a fritto misto recipe.
Simon soon urged Amy to share her story with their viewers, calling it “the elephant in the room”. It prompted Amy to admit: “I’m not a professional chef, so that much is obvious by my hands at the moment, I’m a home cook. But no, I slammed my hand in a door when I left home this morning.”

Asked if she did this in a “fit of anger”, she clarified: “I was carrying lots of blossom for today and I couldn’t wait to get here, so I was enthusiastically closing the door and smashed my fingers.”, reports the Express.
But Amy didn’t stop there. She mentioned another injury where she cut her hand while using a mandolin: “But now, it’s nice and protected, so surely I won’t do it again,” she added in hope.
Amy pressed on despite her injuries, but admitted that more of her ingredients were pre-chopped than usual due to having “minimal fingers to work with”. And with a little help from Simon, she managed to complete her cooking demo successfully.
Asked about the state of her hands afterwards, Amy replied: “Still in tact, thanks for helping out.” Elsewhere on the show, Simon and Tim were joined by Gyles Brandreth, John Robins, Anita Rani, Gaby Roslin, Sheyi Cole and Kid Kapichi. Former Soccer AM star Tim soon found himself on the receiving end of a blunder after making a mistake about John’s podcast show.
John teased Tim after, asking: “Do you ever read your notes?” Tim laughed it off: “I do, but not on you.” And when John talked about his work further, Tim joked: “Here’s the reason why I don’t read the notes.” Earlier Tim had asked John if he was hungover, not knowing John hadn’t drunk for over a year.
Sunday Brunch airs every Sunday on Channel 4 at 9.30am.
