The Chase’s Anne Hegerty lands huge job away from ITV show as she addresses exit

Anne Hegerty is set to become a movie star.

The star of The Chase has been offered a role in a short film. She said: “I’ve been asked to be in the film and I’ve decided to go for it. We’re going to be making that in the next few months.

“I don’t think I’ll be nervous. It’s not in front of an audience. If it was, I’d be thinking, ‘Oh my God am I going to forget my lines?’ But because there won’t be an audience watching, I’m not worried.

“It should be a lot of fun. I’m rather looking forward to it.”

The role will be Anne’s movie debut but, thankfully, she’s got a bit of acting experience under her belt. She said: “I’ve done panto every year since 2014, so that might help.

“That’s about it when it comes to experience. But the team behind the film obviously think I’ve got a bit of acting ability, which is a good sign.”

Anne is also hoping her appearance in the film will pave the way for more roles. And the quizzer is even urging casting directors to get in touch with offers.

The 65-year-old said: “I’d love to do more acting. If anyone wants me for something, they just need to call me!”

Anne recently told Daily Star she has no plans on retiring from The Chase and insists it’s the best job she’s ever had. Asked how long she wants to stay, she said: “As long as they’ll have me, really.

She has no plans to leave The Chase

“I don’t have any plans to retire. “It’s [the show] the little workhorse that makes everything else possible, and I love doing it. It’s the best job I’ve ever had, so I’m happy to keep going as long as they want me for.”

However, she reveals she got told off by a producer when she was offered the chance to appear on a rival gameshow. Anne said she was approached to appear on the BBC’s Celebrity Mastermind a few years back.

She wanted to take them up on the offer, but ITV bosses weren’t pleased about the prospect and didn’t let her do it. Asked if there were any other TV shows she’d like to try out, Anne said: “The trouble is I’m not allowed to do any other [shows]. I mean I got tapped up for Celebrity Mastermind a few years ago, but the producer said ‘absolutely not, we’re not letting you do it'”.
