Good Morning Britain star Laura Tobin has been forced to present her weather segments wearing just one shoe.
The 42-year-old caused confusion in the ITV studio on Monday (April 1) after co-presenters Charlotte Hawkins and Richard Madeley spotted the her holding up one of her green high heels. “You might have noticed that Laura’s height is varying from forecast to forecast. Go on old them up – you’re in your heels for one and the next you’re not,” Richard told viewers.
But it wasn’t an April Fool’s gag, as Laura explained: “I’m very dramatic – I’ve hurt my big toe. So I actually can’t bend it. I’ve had to sort of pop the shoe on and stand a little bit wobbly.”

Richard joked in response: “It’s just sometimes I’ve noticed, your head is parallel with Edinburgh and sometimes its parallel with Hull!”
Laura quipped: “Thanks Richard, I was trying not to draw attention to it.” Richard responded: “Alright Laura – we could all have a bet next time and see if she’s taller or shorter!”
Moments later hosts Richard and Charlotte did fall victim to an April Fool’s gag, however, after the latter was invited to try on a pearl necklace supposedly once worn by Hollywood superstar Marilyn Monroe. After being told by a guest who was in charge of its safe keeping not to touch it, Charlotte kept still as it was wrapped around her neck.
Her face soon turned to despair though as the pearls shattered across the studio floor. “I don’t know what to say,” she said, stunned. Realising the date, she added: “If this is an April Fool’s joke then I’m not part of it.”
Looking equally as confused, Richard added: “Nor am I. Is this a joke? I’m honestly not in on it.” There was a moment’s pause before Richard continued: “We’d better go to a break.”
Thankfully co-star Marverine Cole soon intervened with “breaking news” in her ear-piece, telling viewers and terrified Richard and Charlotte that it was all in fact a prank by producers.
“Omg literally jumped when the necklace broke!!! #AprilFools @GMB #GMB,” wrote one viewer on X, who had clearly been tricked too. “To be fair, this April Fools was better than last year’s. #GMB,” added another.
