Ekin-Su Cülcüloğlu says she has begun a “healing process” after suffering a backlash in the wake of her exit from Celebrity Big Brother.
Following her eviction to boos from the ITV show’s crowd, the 29-year-old appeared on Late and Live, telling hosts AJ Odudu and Will Best that her air time must have been “edited badly”. Ekin-Su then seemingly pulled out of an appearance on Lorraine at the last minute, before deciding against attending the CBB final.
Following her decision, she wrote on Instagram: “I know it’s unlike me to hide away, but I’ve been taking some time to reflect. Sometimes in our lowest moments, we learn the most important lessons about ourselves. I hope you don’t think I was selfish for setting boundaries and putting my own needs first last night.”

She continued: “I’m fully aware that not everybody will understand my absence, or think it was the right decision to make, but it was the right decision for me.”
Now, the former Love Island winner has returned to her platform with a lengthy message of “reflection” to her 3.8million followers. Ekin-Su shared a series of snaps taken from both inside and outside her home, with one that saw her sprawled on her bed by a book titled The Power of Letting Go.
Other shots saw the star make the most of her Spring surroundings as she picked flowers in nearby woodlands. Her caption read: “Just a little message to say hi. Thank you once more for all your kindness. Took some time off to reflect, recharge and restore which I’m still very much doing but I’ll need to be back online for work purposes especially. Thanks to the brands who I work with who have respected my boundaries and shown compassion and love during the past year.”
Ekin-Su continued, admitted she had “kind of lost herself” but was now “excited” for her next chapter and “hadn’t felt myself for a long time, and I’ve realised I had kind of lost myself and for a while didn’t know who I was beyond being defined by ex relationships or TV shows, and that needs to change!”
She went on: “I am so excited for all the growth and full healing. CBB was the final lightbulb moment to make me realise what needs to be done. Embracing the fresh start to a new month and new era…. Wishing everyone an April full of possibilities. I am so grateful for each one of you.”
Scores of her fans were quick to offer their support, meanwhile, expressing on X (formerly Twitter) the importance of her mental wellbeing. One user penned in response: “Ekin you don’t need to justify to yourself to anyone. Your well being is the upmost important thing and hope you are ok.” Another added: “I’m still confused how you got so much hate on CBB. Everybody gave you Roxanne Pallet treatment which is outrageous to me!”
A third sympathised: “It’s brave to admit this and be vulnerable like this publicly. I could see you and see that you were struggling I recognised that pain cause I can relate.” And a fourth said: “Girl, no need to apologise, or justify yourself. It is completely normal to take time for yourself. At the end of the day, your mental health is the most important thing. Take as much time as you need, and nobody will have the energy to judge you.”
