Good Morning Britain presenter Sean Fletcher has opened up about his marriage and admits it can get “messy”.
The 49-year-old, who also hosts BBC’s Countryfile, has been married to Luned Tonderai, a TV producer from Wales, for 25 years and the pair share two kids. But it’s not the good times in their relationship that have made them a successful couple, it’s how they deal with struggles.
Sean told iNews that even though they’ve had lots of good times and have two kids, he doesn’t want to pretend it’s all been easy. With 42% of couples divorcing, he reckons the key is how you handle the rough patches.

He shared: “I’m focusing on the tough stuff here because the key to us lasting in a relationship together is not how we have enjoyed the good times. That’s easy. The real success is how we have reacted during the bad periods.”

He added that they don’t always fix their problems neatly and things can be quite “messy”. But even when they’re mad, they try to listen and sort things out. Sean, who you might also see on Good Morning Britain, met Luned at uni.
They had a baby girl and got hitched in March 1999, reports Wales Online. “Twenty-five years on we certainly have something to celebrate,” Sean said. “What I’ve come to learn though is that we have so much in common with the 42%.

“We get on each other’s nerves, irritate each other, disagree, argue and do many of the other things couples do who end up calling it quits. For us, all of the above can go on for days, sometimes longer.
“At times it has been so much of a struggle we have both wondered whether we are with the right person. We certainly haven’t followed the “don’t go to sleep on an argument” advice. Who does? The closer the person to you, the deeper the hurt goes.”

But he says despite any disagreements, the couple make time for each other and particularly enjoy their weekend walks. He said: “We’ve always enjoyed spending a lot of time together, which is just as well as initially, it was a necessity. At 21 and 23, when our daughter was born, we only had each other. No one else we knew our age was going through grown-up things like parenthood and marriage.”
Sean added: “No marriage succeeds without hard work, and constantly keeping things alive, evolving and responding. Without time together, honestly communicating our feelings, we take our eyes off the ball. It’s a constant work in progress and we’ve learnt the hard way that the moment you become complacent you open yourself up to issues.”
“Above all though, Luned is my best friend and a lover who has shared a wonderful 25-year adventure with me.”
