Final Destination creator Jeffrey Reddick has confessed to two things he will “never do” after coming up with ideas for some of the most horrific scenes in horror movie history.
Cast your mind to the iconic franchise and the first thing to come to mind might just be the plane crash. It might just be the rollercoaster derailing. Or it might be the logging truck from Final Destination 2, with its chains snapping and sending huge tree trunks rolling onto the highway, spearing a cop right through the head and emerging out of his car’s back window.
In an exclusive chat with Daily Star, Jeffrey explained just how that scene came to be. He explained that while working on the sequel with co-writers Eric Bress and J Mackye Gruber, he knew the iconic scene from first-hand experience.

He explained: “I wrote the sequel with [Bress and Gruber], and that brought us the infamous log truck scene, which I think is the meme that never ends. I literally got a meme yesterday about a log truck, and I get sent pictures all the time about log trucks. It’s the standout scene of the movie!
“I came up with that idea when I was going home to Kentucky. There were log trucks everywhere. I pulled off the highway and called the producer, ’cause we were trying to figure out the opening – I told him about the log truck and suggested the chain breaks and he was like, ‘That’s it, that’s the opening’.”
Asked what things he steers away from after the impact of the movies, Jeffrey admitted there’s not much that scares him. He said: “I do avoid walking under cranes. Anything like that. I definitely don’t drive behind logging trucks!
“The one thing that surprisingly doesn’t bother me is flying – I’ll talk to a lot of people who are like, ‘When I get on a plane I check to make sure the tray table thing doesn’t fall’. I don’t do any of that stuff.
“I did have a trip recently where I was flying through Dallas and there was a big storm. We ran out of fuel and had to go to Oklahoma and it got really bumpy. That was the only time I got scared on a plane. I always joke, ‘If I die [on a plane] it’ll be good marketing for the franchise’.”
Jeffrey also spoke about a terrifying experience he had as a child when he narrowly avoided a serial killer. He admitted: “This car with these three guys pulled up to me – and they were really hot. They started trying to get me in the car, and I just had a weird feeling about it. I was like, ‘I should not get in the car with these guys’. They offered to give me a ride, but as soon as my mom noticed what was going on, they took off.

“That’s always stuck with me because I just know something bad would have happened. There were a couple of serial killers running around at that point in time, so I probably would have ended up murdered. That was probably the creepiest real-life thing that happened to me.
“But they were so handsome! That’s how the serial killers get you – they never send out the ugly serial killers to get you!”
