One Hollywood star had to shoot four sex scenes – each with a different partner – in a single day.
Mary and George actor Nicholas Galitzine is set to appear in the Starz historical drama series as George Villiers, son of Mary Villiers, played by Julianne Moore. Mary urges George to become lovers with King James I to gain power – which results in some seriously steamy scenes.
Nicholas admitted to Entertainment Weekly that the hectic filming schedule meant he was introducing himself to strangers and then quickly romping with them. He said: “There was one day where we did about four sex scenes in one day.

“I was going from room to room meeting strangers and saying, ‘Hi, I am Nick, nice to meet you. Okay, this is the position we’re going to be in’”. The actor continued: “We had such a wonderful intimacy coordinator, and for the day players who came in for these singular scenes, I hope I made them feel comfortable. But I’m so proud of all that work that we did together.”
For some reason, Nick thought it would be a good idea to invite his parents along for the London premiere, which left him in fits of giggles. Speaking on the Just for Variety podcast, he admitted: “I was kind of in hysterics because there is nothing more uncomfortable than watching your son bed a number of characters even within the first few episodes.”
But he says the sex scenes are “really integral to the plot and not just salacious”. And sex scenes were the least of Nick’s worries after he broke his ankle while filming the racy project.
The star suffered a range of injuries, the worst of which came from wearing heeled shoes. He said: “These stately homes have very slippery floors. While filming the scene in the first episode where I run and tackle this serving boy, my ankle slipped [and twisted] a full 90 degrees inward. I fractured my ankle and had to continue doing stunts the next couple days and then was dancing on it.”
The star had to conceal his ankle splint with riding boots, and that same day ended up with a black eye. He said: “One of my co-stars, in trying to hold me down, slammed my head into a table. So I had a black eye and a broken ankle.

“Tony [Curran] head-butted me at one point. He also cut my chin open with one of his rings. I really went through the wars on this production. None of it, obviously, was purposeful, and it mirrored the epic-ness of the journey that I went through over the show, both as Nick and as George.”
He’s not the only Hollywood star to sustain an injury during filming, with Monkey Man actor Dev Patel breaking his hand during filming. He told Jimmy Fallon: “In the first action scene, I’m basically a crash-test dummy and my co-star is using my face to break every piece of porcelain in this bathroom. And my hand, I heard it snap and I was like, ‘This is not good.’”
