Kerry Katona has opened up on an episode of psychosis as she offered to support to Helen Flanagan.
Former Coronation Street beauty Helen recently made a welcome return to social media after suffering an adverse reaction to her ADHD medication. Last week the 33-year-old revealed she began taking the medication as a way to “cope better with being a working single mum of three” after “emotionally struggling” in the aftermath of her split from Scott Sinclair.
However, she soon began to feel paranoid, which led to psychosis which she had to endure for “a couple of days”. Now, Kerry has admitted she “self-medicated” to ill-effect when she broke up with her first husband, Brian McFadden.

“Helen Flanagan has opened up about going into psychosis after a reaction to medication she was prescribed when she split with Scott Sinclair,” Kerry began.
“Good on her for being so open. It’s so hard being a mum. Say what you want about D-listers like me, but we get it from all angles, having to juggle constant criticism with parenting and relationships.”
She continued in her OK! column: “Having children is the hardest job in the world. I have five and constantly worry about them all. The fact that Helen went and got medication is good too. When I split with my first husband, I self-medicated and that sent me into psychosis, so she’s doing better than me.”
Speaking of her recent woes, Helen said: “I had a really bad reaction though to the medication and it sent me into a psychosis for a few days which I didn’t know I was in. This bad reaction though was a few days before rehearsals were starting and sadly I just wasn’t mentally well enough to do it.
Helen went on to admit she was “heartbroken” at having to pull out of her theatre run, but insisted she “needed to stay at home and feel better for me and my kids, with the help of my amazing parents.”
Elsewhere in her column, meanwhile, Kerry also revealed what she’d be up to lately – albeit nothing exciting it seems. “We didn’t go away anywhere during the Easter holidays,” she said.
“I didn’t book any work travel and I’ve tried to stay home and be with the kids. I love when they’re at home for the holidays, because I enjoy spending time with them. My anxiety hasn’t been great recently, so I was really glad to not be living out of a suitcase.”
