This Morning star Alison Hammond has landed a major new presenting gig with the show’s rival broadcaster, BBC.
After missing out on being appointed as the full time successor to Holly Willoughby, the 49-year-old remains on Friday hosting duties with co-star Dermot O’Leary. But that’s not enough for the former Big Brother contestant, who now promises to dish the dirt on some of the UK’s best-loved celebrities.
Alison Hammond’s Big Weekend will see her offer a glimpse into the homes and lives of a series of famous faces, according to the Beeb. In a six-part series that will air on BBC One and iPlayer, Alison will get to know each guest over the course of 48 hours, “serving up big laughs, big revelations and a whole load of celebrity realness”.

Opening up about her new venture, Alison gushed: “I’m so excited to serve up some big lols and tons of OMG revelations on the BBC as I spend some quality time with some of the UK’s favourite celebrities. When I’m on a mission no secret is safe, and trust me no stone or cupboard will go unturned!”
Kalpna Patel-Knight, the BBC’s Head of Entertainment added: “Alison is one of the most warm-hearted presenters in the UK and it’s no surprise that big name celebrities are lining up to have her spend the weekend at their homes. It’s going to be a blast!”
And Creative Director for Entertainment, Mel Balac enthused about the appointment: “Alison is the perfect woman for the job. She wears her heart on her sleeve and her incredible openness, energy and warmth will shed new light on the celebrities she spends the weekend with. When Alison comes knocking it’s a special appointment you won’t want to miss!”
It comes after Alison was announced as the successor to Paul O’Grady following the tragic death of the comedian in March last year. Alison will take over his iconic role on the For The Love Of Dogs, as she heads to Battersea Dogs & Cats Home to help the animals in their care look for a new place to live.
The six-part series will tell the stories of some of the latest arrivals at the animal shelter, with the new addition of Alison mucking in to help.
Discussing the job, she said: Alison said: “I am very aware that I can never replace the iconic Paul in this wonderful series, but if I can continue to shine a light on the brilliant work done at Battersea and help to tell the stories of these beautiful dogs, then it will be an absolute privilege to give it my all.
“I can’t wait to share the joy of their searches for new loving forever homes and hopefully make lots of furry friends of my own along the way!”
