Liam Gallagher has told one of his former Oasis bandmates “it’s not big and it’s not clever” after he teased the prospect of a reunion.
Oasis split in 2009 following a blazing row between Liam and his older brother Noel. The siblings have been warring ever since, but talk of a reconciliation hits the headlines every year.
Next year marks the 30th anniversary of their biggest selling record, (What’s The Story) Morning Glory? with the band touted for a possible Glastonbury headline slot and tour to mark the occasion. Whilst frontman Liam has often openly admitted he’d love for them to reform, chief songwriter Noel tends to categorically rule it out.

Now, bass player Andy Bell who joined the Oasis lineup in 1999 has weighed in with his thoughts – only to be immediately shut down 51-year-old Liam.
Opening up to Virgin Radio, Andy, who formed Beady Eye with Liam after Oasis split, said he was optimistic a reunion is on the cards. “Yeah, they probably will. I think yeah, they probably will do it. I don’t think it looks likely right now, but life is long, isn’t it?” he said.
“As a Stone Roses fan, that reunion happened completely against the way things were looking. They were not getting on at all, and there was a lot of bad blood in the press and stuff with the Roses, and then suddenly you were hearing about gigs… I think we could see something like that for Oasis.”
Having heard Andy’s comments, however, Liam took to X (formerly Twitter) on Wednesday (April 10), seemingly putting paid to the idea. He told Andy, who is currently touring with his band, Ride: “Andy Bell from ride the shoe gazing phenomenon should really not be getting people’s hopes up it’s not big and and it’s not clever LG x.”
Andy soon took to X himself to issue an apology. “Apologies! Didn’t mean to get anyone’s hopes up, nothing to see here ! X,” he wrote.
Liam’s fans believe his comments could be tongue-in-cheek, however. “He’s just saying what you’ve said a million times already,” one X user told him. Another added: “Says the man who says it’s happening every six months.”
Liam later joked: “I’ve never mentioned Oasis reunion it’s over we must all really move in for our own mental health.”
