Little Mix star Perrie Edwards has opened up on the moment she almost quit Little Mix as the band were starting to dominate the charts.
Edwards, 30, shot to fame when she won The X Factor along with her bandmates Leigh-Anne Pinnock, Jade Thirlwall and Jesy Nelson. Beating out second placed Marcus Collins, Little Mix became the first group to ever win the show and would go on to sell millions of records.
But in a recent interview with Jonathan Ross on his ITV show, Edwards revealed that not everything was rosy for the band at the beginning. She went on to say she almost left the band because of the pressures being put on her to learn choreography.

Perrie confessed that in the early days of rehearsals, she broke down in tears when she berated herself to her manager by saying she could not dance. She also warned the manager that if she did not improve, she would be forced to leave the group altogether.
Appearing on the chat show to launch her solo career with her debut single, ‘Forget About Us’, she admitted that the adapting to life in a girl-band was tough for her. “In the band at the very beginning, we went to rehearsals, and I remember crying my eyes out,” she explained.
“And I went to my manager, ‘I’m going to have to leave the band. I can’t really dance, I don’t want to dance.’ I was just so terrified and uncomfortable dancing that I just didn’t want to do it – I just wanted to stand and sing.”
Thankfully things changed for the artist, who went on to be a dominating force in the band with her vocal capabilities. Since then, she has found a way to turn anxiety into drive and has now ruled nothing out – including the potential to go on Strictly Come Dancing.
Little Mix officially went on indefinite hiatus in December 2021, with each of the singers going on to release their own music. Jesy, 32, was the first to go solo, leaving the group one year earlier due to a crisis with her mental health.
Geordie lass Perrie admitted that going on the Jonathan Ross show by herself felt very strange as she had her bandmates by her side previously. She explained to Ross, alongside other guests Frank Skinner, Aisling Bea and Johannes Radebe: “It’s really bizarre not having them with me, it does feel really different.”
However, she explained that the band decided it was the right time for the project to come to an end. She also insisted that she supports her fellow bandmates in whatever they get up to.
Since launching her solo career, Perrie also admitted that she is still adapting to doing music by herself. She added that she was “terrified” of going alone, but she wanted to challenge herself.
“From being 16, I was in Little Mix, so I don’t know any different,” she confessed. “So it is quite daunting, but I’m having such a good time so far.”
