Big Brother star Charlie Doherty has been told she has a tumour which could be “life-threatening”.
The TV star, 39, found out recently that she likely has an acoustic neuroma. Charlie was shocked after finding out the news – which took her a year to receive.
Charlie had been going back and forth to the doctors and had various tests done which “didn’t show anything”. However, luckily Charlie “knew” her body and could feel something was “wrong”.

The mum-of-one is currently waiting for further information and what the next steps will be but fumes “it isn’t right” how the health services have treated her, after feeling “fobbed off” for over a year and being told nothing was wrong.”
After a year went by and after pushing for an MRI, Charlie received the news that made her feel severely worried. She told us: “After I heard the words brain tumour, I pretty much switched off, I couldn’t retain anything else they said.”
Charlie has since done her own research into the condition, after still waiting to hear from the professionals, and found out that she will likely have three different options.
She told us: “You can either watch and wait, and they can check on it every so often and whatever and see if it grows, radiotherapy, or have the surgery to remove it.”
Charlie then spoke about the side effects of the surgery and the health worries she has off the back of it. She added: “I know there’s a chance you can go completely deaf in one ear, there’s also a chance of facial paralysis as well and then you may need to learn how to walk again after the surgery because it seems to shut the brain down for a short time.”
The star was suffering from extreme sound sensitivity and beeping noises in her ear for months, but the doctors couldn’t find anything wrong with her. She pushed for a CT scan, which didn’t show any issues, and after feeling fed up, she firmly put her foot down and pushed for an MRI.
In a bid to help other people out there, Charlie urges anyone with a health issue to “keep pushing” despite what the doctors say. Charlie said: “If you know there’s something wrong, get a second opinion, and keep pushing for further tests. If I didn’t do that I could be sat here with a brain tumour and not even know anything about it. It’s bad enough that I’ve been telling them for a year.
“The waiting game is the worst bit as well, and it’s the not knowing, I haven’t had a lot of time to research into properly myself as I’ve been looking after my little boy Charlie. So, I have to put his needs first, I can’t just go and do some research or have a bath when I want to.”
