Ant McPartlin’s ex Lisa Armstrong shows him support as Saturday Night Takeaway ends

Ant McPartlin’s ex Lisa Armstrong has shown him a rare sign of support after his and Declan Donnelly’s show Saturday Night Takeaway came to an end.

The former couple was married from 2006 to 2018. Saturday Night Takeaway has aired ever since 2002 – apart from when it took a four-year break between 2009 and 2013, meaning Lisa was there for most of it too.

And after the show came to an end this weekend, Lisa showed her ex-husband some support after years of subtle digs online. On her X profile, she liked a message which spoke of fond memories of the show.

Posted by television host Andy Collins, it read: “After 20 years this amazing show is coming to a end it’s been a real joy and pleasure to have been there from the beginning, and in my 30 year career in showbiz I’ve worked with some brilliant people but these two are simply the best! Great friendships and memories made.”

And it seems emotions were high all around in the show’s last episode, as Ant and Dec, both 48, fought back tears. The fan-favourite show saw a star-studded final series, with big names from over the years returning to get their own back on the Geordie duo.

The likes of Simon Cowell, Amanda Holden, Alison Hammond and Holly Willoughby teamed up to pull off some pranks after they’d been caught out by Ant and Dec in the past. They made sure the series went out with a bang after a whopping 20 years on TV.

Ant and Dec have decided to “pause” the show – refusing to say they’ll never do it again – as their lives have “changed dramatically”. Dec is now a dad-of-two, and Ant is set to become a father for the first time with his wife Anne-Marie.

He and Lisa never had children during their marriage, but shared their beloved dog Hurley. Since their split, which came when Ant ended the relationship in December 2017, things have been less than rosy.

Lisa fought Ant in the Royal Courts of Justice to get some of his £50million fortune in the divorce – and she won. The bitter battle was settled in January 2020.
