Dirty Harry star Clint Eastwood looked unrecognisable as he attended a rare public engagement with animal lover Jane Goodall.
The former on-screen gunslinger, 93, looked alert as ever as he sat opposite Jane for a conservation event held at the Sunset Cultural Centre in Carmel-by-the-Sea in California. Clint looked totally different from his early days in Hollywood rocking a huge white beard and longer hair.
He wore a grey puffer coat over a green-and-orange checked shirt and loose charcoal grey trousers, with a brown leather belt to finish off the ensemble. 90-year-old Jane, meanwhile, slipped into a loose cardigan patterned with feathers and black slacks, pulling her white hair back into a ponytail.

The pair entertained crowds at the Reasons for Hope event, part of Jane’s 90th Birthday Tour for the Wildlife Conservation Network. And even though Clint is about to turn 94, he’s still working in Hollywood, and about to direct and produce courtroom drama Juror No. 2, starring Nicholas Hoult and Toni Collette.
Clint made his acting debut back in 1955, appearing in Revenge of the Creature as Jennings. Since then he’s won four Oscars and four Golden Globes, starring in everything from The Good, the Bad and the Ugly to Heartbreak Ridge.
Fans were worried about Clint last year when he went 450 days without a public appearance. One source told Radar Online at the time: “Clint has always enjoyed great health and been vital and active despite his advancing age, but the fact that he hasn’t been around as much lately has a lot of people in Hollywood worried about him.
“It’s hard to imagine him in anything other than fine form but Father Time catches up to all of us.” The insider added that Clint takes on plenty of roles in whatever film he’s working on in the moment, including casting and composing the score.
Clint has “flirted” with the idea of leaving Hollywood behind, confessing: “I never did get to that day when I said I’d quit. I’ve flirted with the idea a lot lately, but every once in a while, a script comes along, and I think, ‘That’s a challenge that I haven’t been able to do before.’”

He added to Film Comment: “I’ve threatened to quit, but maybe that’s a defence mechanism, because there aren’t enough good roles at my age. That’s probably true, and if it is, I’ll stay behind the camera. The reason I started directing 37 years ago was I thought some day I or the audience would probably look at the screen and say, ‘That’s enough of that.’
“I’m not saying it won’t happen again, but the odds get less if you set yourself a goal that fits your age group. You just never say never,” he added.
