This Morning fans gobsmacked as Cat Deeley ‘won’t stop breaking TV rule’

This Morning fans were getting sick of one of Cat Deeley’s “annoying” habits as she continually “broke a TV rule”.

On Thursday’s episode (April 18), Cat and Ben had various segments to get through together, including one on Reborn dolls – lifelike baby dolls that have the same weight and smell as a real baby. They also discussed Taylor Swift’s new album, made cheese toasties and sipped pints of Guinness.

But throughout, Cat kept speaking over Ben, leaving fans fuming on social media. One X user said: “Why does Cat laugh at everything and look like she’s popped out to Tesco for a pint of milk? Considering she’s a presenter with such experience I think she is doing a really bad job on this show, not trolling guys I’m just saying I don’t think she’s a good match.”

Another echoed: “Sorry but Cat isn’t right for this show. She keeps interrupting everyone or talking over them.” As somebody else said: “Cat Deeley is trying way too hard.” And a fourth said: “Isn’t there an unspoken TV rule that you don’t talk over people? Cat Deeley just keeps drowning Ben out and it’s really distracting.”

Others, however, rushed to support Cat, with one penning: “Cat does seem the more relaxed of the two and with another partner could thrive but Ben just doesn’t seem to have settled in at all.” Someone else said: “Cat Deeley is a splendid addition to the show so much more mature and classy.”

Cat is clearly impressing someone, though, as she’s reportedly being eyed up by the BBC just weeks after signing for ITV. It’s claimed the Beeb want the 47-year-old for a Saturday night slot. One source told Mail on Sunday: “She is used to hosting a glitzy show in America and put with the right programme over here, she could be an absolute ratings winner.

“There is no love lost between the BBC and ITV for the stealing of stars, so what a great move it would be.” Cat has found stardom in the US after becoming the host of So You Think You Can Dance? since 2006. But after signing up for This Morning, she may be tempted to leave the show and return to the UK full time.

Stars are entitled to work for both BBC and ITV – provided no ‘golden handcuffs’ deal has been signed, restricting their freedom. Ant and Dec are an example of this, meaning they can only air on ITV.
