BBC Breakfast’s Carol Kirkwood has sparked fresh concern for her health.
Viewers who had tuned in, had noticed that the Scottish weather presenter’s voice seemed hoarse after being absent last week. It was Matt Taylor and Sarah Keith-Lucas who both stepped to fill the void.
However, with 61-year-old now returning to screens with a “croaky” voice seemed to raise eyebrows as she resumed her duties. While many were chuffed to have her back on their screens, some couldn’t help but express their worry over her tone.

Social media was abuzz with messages of support for the beloved presenter. One concerned viewer took to X (formerly Twitter) to comment: “@BBCBreakfast someone please give Carol a throat sweet, she sounds terrible.”
Another chimed in with: “Good morning. You sounded a little croaky this morning. Hope you OK.” A third fan even quipped: “Carol sounds like she’s been on a mad one all weekend. This woman needs a Lemsip.”, reports the Express.
It seems Carol’s vocal struggles have been ongoing, as she had previously mentioned losing her voice while on air. Before her brief hiatus, her colleagues gave her props for soldiering on through the programme despite her raspy voice.
Sally Nugent praised Carol’s perseverance, saying: “Carol, I know you’ll be keeping an eye on that [Storm Kathleen], and well done – we’ve got to the end of Breakfast and your voice has survived. It’s an achievement. Go and rest.”
BBC presenter Carol Kirkwood lightheartedly addressed her somewhat rusty voice with co-host Jon Kay. When he sought the forecast, she humorously replied: “For my voice, Jon? It’s looking a bit ropey.”
While her hoarseness was noted on the live show, Carol has not revealed any information about her vocal condition. But fans are hoping it’s just seasonal and that she’s fighting fit again soon.
