BBC Breakfast’s Naga Munchetty leaves co-stars red-faced as she talks ‘pinching balls’

Things took a hilarious turn on BBC Breakfast as the presenters awkwardly discussed “pinching balls”.

During Friday’s (April 26) instalment of the popular news programme, Naga Munchetty and Charlie Sayat were back on the famous red sofa to discuss the latest news headlines. They were also joined in the studio by sports correspondent Mike Bushell and weather forecaster Matt Taylor.

During his sports segment, Mike dished out the latest golf news and explained that an alligator caused a game to come to a halt in New Orleans due to walking on the golf course. He then mentioned that he would rather the alligator, than baboons, who are known to pinch balls during games.

Mike said: “I think I’d rather have alligators holding up play than cheeky baboons like in South Africa where they actually have baboon monitors to stop the baboons pinching your balls.” The studio then descended into silence.

Charlie giggled and said: “That’s a tough job isn’t it?”. He then chimed: ” I wouldn’t want that job! You got to be careful around Baboons.”

Mike then told Charlie that he is “usually” everyday- while appearing to allude that he needs to be careful around certain people in the office. When Charlie then asked Matt if he was also “careful” around baboons, the forecaster gave a tame response and said: “I can’t say I’m the same sort of as Mike.”

Mike then told Matt that he would give him “tips”. Naga then awkwardly said to the weather presenter: “What? Avoiding baboons pinching your balls?”

Matt replied: “I’ve not had that, no. Shall we go to the weather?” As he tried to move things on swiftly, Naga begged him to get on with things.

Fans at home commented on the funny exchange

But viewers at home quickly picked up on the amusing interaction and headed over to X to share their takes. One social media user laughed: “Brilliant baboon pinching moment there, the awkwardness was palpable. You couldn’t write it.”

Another joked: “‘Baboons pinching your balls’. If you know you know.” While a third added: “Do you have trouble with baboons nicking your balls? Great Friday banter.”
