An American TV star has admitted she feels “comforted” by being washed by her mum in the shower.
Brittani Cooper, who appears alongside mum, Mary, in TLC’s sMothered, raised eyebrows after revealing at 19 she still goes naked with her 55-year old parent. According to the pair, who hail from Florida, it has brought them closer together than ever despite their unusual bond hitting headlines around the world.
In a preview clip of season two of their show, Mary confesses they’re so comfortable in their actions because its something they’ve been doing for years. “I have been taking showers and helping Brittani since she was five,” she explains.

In the the video Mary can then be heard telling her daughter to “move over baby” before declaring “ah, that feels so good” as the water hits their bodies.
It doesn’t end though, as Mary proceeds to wash Brittani’s hair, telling her: “You need to tan or something, honey. You’re so white.” And she tells the cameras: “The best way to start our day is in the shower.”
Mary later slams those critical of their behaviour, adding: “I love her, and I don’t see anything wrong with it. I don’t believe I set out to have a relationship this close to Brittani, it’s something that was supposed to be.”
Brittani also defended their actions, responding: “When my mom does simple things like washing my hair or my body, it makes me feel comforted. Plus, I’m only 19, I haven’t moved away. If that was the case, she would probably die from separation anxiety.”
Mary, meanwhile, previously told the New York Post that the dup started showering together after Brittani began to suffer from panic attacks, which may have been brought on by the temperature of the water. “That’s kind of how I started getting in the shower with her, just to comfort her because she would freak out,” Mary said. “That grew into an every-other-day thing. When she was smaller, it was every day.”
Mary also said the bond with Brittani had caused issues in her relationship with her live-in boyfriend, Frank. “It has caused some issues in my relationship, but he’s got to accept it,” she continued. “That’s how it is. He knows I love him, but I love my daughter more – she’s my life.”
