Hollyoaks legend addresses future on Channel 4 soap as she returns after dramatic axe

Tamara Wall has revealed what it’s really like being back at Hollyoaks.

The actress is best known for playing Grace Black for 10 years but she was axed by soap bosses last year leaving the soap icon heartbroken.

However, Grace has since been brought back to the village in a huge U-turn by new executives at the Channel 4 show and the character is going to be badder than ever before.

Speaking to Daily Star, Tamara said: “I just want Grace to go back to how she was. I think my character kind of lost its way a little bit before I left last year and the kind of feedback from the people that know she’s coming back is ‘please tell me it’s going to be the old Grace’.

“She’s going to be bad again and she is coming like the old Grace Black ‘big, fiesty, confidence’ A baddy but with a heart. Tamara revealed that her return came as such a shock but she’s delighted to be back where she belongs.

She explained: “It was all a but last minute but we’d been speaking for a few weeks but they needed to find out how to bring Grace back storyline wise because she’s in prison. Once they knew that Freddie [Roscoe, played by Charlie Clapham] was coming back they were like ‘Oh my god, let’s get him doing stuff with Grace and that gives us a reason to bring Grace back so thanks Charlie.”

Tamara continued: “I missed it so much, it literally hurt my insides. For a start, I’ve been early to work everyday so that tells you something. It’s been so nice just walking into the building on the first day and having everybody come up to me with open arms and going ‘oh my god, we’ve missed you’. I feel very loved. I had meeting with Hannah [Cheers, executive producer] in Liverpool and I got into my car and cried because I was so happy.”

When asked if Grace’s return is permanent, Tamara joked: “They can’t fire me again can they. I’m not leaving and they’ll have to have me until I’m grey and old unfortunately.” Fans will have to wait and see what mischief Grace brings back to the village with her as her romance with fiancé Freddie heats up.

Hollyoaks airs weeknights on E4 at 7pm and first look episodes can be streamed Channel 4 at 7.30pm
