Nina Warhurst addresses ‘chemistry’ with BBC Breakfast co-star after fan remarks

BBC Breakfast’s Nina Warhurst has addressed the “chemistry” she shares with her co-host.

During Sunday’s visit (May 5) to the BBC studios, Nina and Roger Johnson discussed some of the biggest stories hitting the headlines. This included the final results from the borough elections, the rise in vegan bakeries in France and the heartbreaking response from the family who lost their son in a London sword attack.

As the show unfolded, the pair were praised for their on-screen “chemistry” by viewers which prompted the presenters to respond. Taking to the platform X – formerly Twitter – one user penned: “TV Presenting partnerships are all about chemistry. Together, @RogerJ_01 and @NinaWarhurst are the absolute nuts.”

Both presenters responded to the compliment, with Nina, 44, sharing a series of laughing emojis as Roger, 55, penned: “Thanks Adam”. But the praise didn’t stop there, as more viewers chimed in to commend the TV hosts.

One viewer commented: “Good to see the top team together on the sofa” while another stated: “Anything with @NinaWarhurst on is definitely worth watching.” “Nina rocks,” added another fan, with a fourth suggesting she should take over from regular host Naga Munchetty.

Naga recently revealed that she had to change some of her outfits after viewers complained they were causing migraines, reports the Express. During an appearance on Room 101 with Paul Merton, she was asked about the pressures of being a female presenter and choosing what to wear.

She replied: “There’s only one time I’ve taken it on board and never worn an outfit again. One and a half. The first time, I wore this dress on breakfast and it had a geometric print and two people said it was causing them migraines, so I said, ‘absolutely fine, I won’t wear that again’.”

Naga then revealed she had also abandoned a “brilliant” black dress adorned with eyes after receiving complaints. She said: “I still have it, this was about ten to twelve years ago and it was black and had all these eyes on it.

“Two people emailed in saying it was scaring them and giving the nightmares. So that one I have worn since but I haven’t worn it much.” Naga hosts the show from Thursday to Saturday while also managing her work commitments on BBC Radio 5 Live.

After taking a short break from the programme earlier this year, Nina and Rachel Burden filled in for her, sparking a variety of responses. One viewer wrote at the time: “@BBCBreakfast can we have Nina on more often please.”

Another remarked: “Nina is such a breath of fresh air against Naga Munchetty, she should replace her permanently..#BBCBreakfast.” However, another viewer disagreed, stating: “No Naga? Not watching this rubbish.”

Yet another praised the absent host for not tolerating “any nonsense” during interviews and called for her return. BBC Breakfast airs on weekdays from 6am on BBC One or catch up on BBC iPlayer.
