The guest dubbed Met Gala’s “mystery woman” has been identified.
Mona Patel stunned the world at the prestigious fashion event when she took to the red carpet wearing a gorgeous Iris Van Herpen dress, which featured mechanical elements and moving parts. The internet was captivated by her incredible ensemble and people were desperate to find out more.
After online research, Met Gala fans discovered that Mona founded Couture for Cause back in 2017, which is a non-profit organisation that raises money by auctioning couture clothing. She also has a million-dollar empire across a number of businesses.

Her LinkedIn profile reveals that Patel has a Master’s degree from MIT Sloan School of Management and previously studied at Gujarat University. The “mystery guest” has been honoured by Forbes as back in 2021, Mona was included in their Forbes Next 1000 Honorees list among 250 other inspirational entrepreneurial figures.
According to reports, Patel has been married to surgeon Chintan Desai for almost 17 years. She attended the 2024 Met Gala and onlookers and fans alike were left mesmerised by her look, which earned her praise as one of the best dressed guests of the night.
Her dress was a strapless cream number with a spiked bodice and organic, flowing patterns that ran up the bodice and down her skirt, which billowed out behind her like petals on a flower. The front featured a high-low design and on her arms, Patel wore cuffs that ran up to her shoulders.
The gold cuffs had moving parts attached, which made Mona look as though she had wings attached from her hands all the way up her arms. The dainty mechanical pieces matched the colour of her dress.
She styled her brunette locks in a sleek updo with a full face of makeup that helped her glow under the Met Gala’s light. Patel kept her accessories simple, just diamond earrings and silver stilettos to let her outfit do all the talking.
British Vogue has reported that Patel designed the moving wings and that celebrity stylist icon Law Roach helped to coordinate her look, which will no doubt go down in history.
