Disney fans convinced Moana song lyric ‘sounds like swearing in Scottish accent’

Disney fans have been left in stitches after someone pointed out a hilarious misheard song lyric in the animated movie Moana.

The musical sensation follows a Polynesian teen Moana (meaning ‘ocean’) who sets out to team up with legendary demigod Maui to save her people. It features teen actress Auli’i Cravalho as the voice of the protagonist, while Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson is the voice of Maui.

It became a smash hit at the box office back in 2016, raking in more than $56million in its opening weekend in the US. The soundtrack, written by broadway legend and writer of Hamilton, Lin-Manuel Miranda became a streaming sensation too.

However, some fans believe one of the lyrics sounds like someone swearing in a Scottish accent – and once it’s pointed out you’ll never hear it the same again.

In the clip, which was shared on Instagram by British Memes, the character Moana is heard singing the final verse in the song ‘I Am Moana’ when fans believe she sang: “It’s like the tide, always f****g rising.”

However, if you were to Google the song lyrics, you would find out what she is actually singing. The correct lines are: “And the call isn’t out there at all. It’s inside me. It’s like the tide. Always falling and rising.”

Nevertheless, viewers were left in hysterics as they took to the comments to poke fun at the misheard lyric, which has now gained more than 1.3million likes.

One user said: “I’ve actually seen this movie at least 200 times, now I can’t f***ing remember what the actual lyric is. Now I only hear *f***ing rising* in that accent. This ruined it.”

Another added: “Moana turned into Merida for a split second,” while a third commented: “My husband’s Scottish and he’s said this since the first time he saw the movie. I’ll never hear it any other way.”

Meanwhile, some users couldn’t hear it at all. A viewer wrote: “I cannot hear what y’all are talking about. It just sounds like falling and rising to me.”
