My 600lb Life star ‘killing himself for food’ as ‘harsh’ doctor scorns patient

TLC fans have branded My 600lb Life “harsh” a cruel comment was made by a doctor.

On the episode, Ontreon told the camera: “Hopefully [I can] show him I’ve been able to start making the progress he wants. At my last appointment, I was up to 704, so I’m hoping I’ve made it to around 624.” On the screen, the number 702.4 flashed up as a result of 2lbs weight loss.

Ontreon then made his way to see Dr Now as he quipped “at least I didn’t gain” any weight. The TLC star admitted he was “disappointed and upset,” but Dr Now had even harsher words to say to his patient.

Now walked into the room to discuss Ontreon’s weight loss and began: “Well, Ontreon, you get the gold medal of not losing any weight. That has never happened. Not losing any weight and telling me you’re turning things around.”

Ontreon tried to explain, but Dr Now wasn’t having any of it: “You’ve been on it zero percent, that ‘being a hundred percent’ [effort] is not correct. I don’t know what your purpose of coming here and seeing us [is]. What do you expect that we can do for you?”

“You are on a path of killing yourself for the food and no matter what we’re telling you, you keep doing it. When you’re 700lb, if you follow the 1200 calorie diet you can lose 80lb, 100lb in a month. To maintain the weight that you are, you have to eat 6000-7000 calories a day.”

Dr Now said that Ontreon was expecting to lose weight even though he was eating the same as usual, but the medical professional quipped “that’s not going to happen”. Down in the comment section, fans flocked to the official TLC Instagram page to share their thoughts on Ontreon’s condition.

Someone wrote: “I mean, Dr Now is very harsh sometimes but at this point these people known how he is so they know what they’ve signed up for, and when you don’t do your part, he’s gonna be upset about it.”

Other people called Ontreon a “liar” and blamed his wife for providing him with food. One person branded Now a “GOAT,” which is an acronym for “greatest of all time,” while someone else noted that “even the nurse was disappointed”.
