Eurovision’s Olly Alexander did the UK “proud”, says Bradley Riches.
The singer placed 18th for the United Kingdom in the contest with his song Dizzy on Saturday (May 11) night after receiving zero public points.
He delivered an energetic performance of his catchy track at the Malmö Arena in Sweden on behalf of the UK before Swiss singer Nemo Mettler was crowned as this year’s winner. However, the 33-year-old’s singing and dancing was unfortunately not enough to impress the rest of Europe as he brutally received zero points from the public.

Speaking about the disappointing result at the BAFTA TV Awards, Celebrity Big Brother housemate and Netflix star Bradley said: “I think. Olly is a great person and a great musician. He knows his talent, how good he is and he did us proud.
Fans were in immediate uproar over Olly’s result, flocking to social media in solidarity against the apparent injustice of his null score. One disgruntled fan tweeted in disbelief: “I’m sorry but @alexander_olly definitely didn’t deserve 0 votes from the public just wow.”
Another user echoed those sentiments: “Olly Alexander did an amazing job representing the UK!”. Someone else commented scornfully: “Well that’s awful and disgusting he deserved better really 0 points your having a laugh. Be proud Olly we love you.”
Documenting their frustration, someone further vented: “OLLY ALEXANDER DID NOT DESERVE THAT!” Another gave subtle praise, suggesting perhaps the performance was misunderstood: “I think @alexander_olly performance was well ahead of its time and I’m not sure people understood it. It was nevertheless impressive. Well done!”
Olly’s act faced harsh criticism beyond the voting, with claims of sound issues creating added fodder for frustrated fans. Some eagle-eyed fans were quick to clock that the sound quality was a bit dodgy, with whispers of sabotage in the air. One viewer tweeted: “What is wrong with the sound suddenly… sabotage.”
Another chimed in with: “Hmm why is the sound different for Olly Alexander?” A third fan piped up: “Great staging, but terrible sound production.” This isn’t Olly’s first time with sound woes at Eurovision, after semi-final watchers moaned about not being able to hear him properly due to muffled sound. Taking to Instagram post-flak, Olly dished the dirt on his performance snafus.
He spilled the beans: “Eurovision update! Semi-final one was last night. I performed, it was good. My mic pack fell out halfway through the performance so I had to catch it and it just kind of threw me off. That is the thrill of live music, live television, anything can happen.”
