Good Morning Britain fans fume ‘what happened’ as show hit by huge blunder

Good Morning Britain fans were left scratching their heads after a major technical blunder.

The ITV breakfast programme, hosted by Susanna Reid and Ed Balls, went pear-shaped on Tuesday (May 14) when a presenter’s mic cut out for a full minute during the broadcast. The chaos unfolded during the local news segment after Susanna and Ed handed over to ITV London’s Sally Biddulph.

But unfortunately, the newsreader’s mic failed and Sally wasn’t audible. Viewers were left with just the Good Morning Britain theme tune, rather than their usual news updates.

Viewers aired their confusion on social media, with one writing on X: “Looks like @gmb silenced @SallyBiddulph this morning on @itvlondon. All we heard was music. Couldn’t hear @SallyWeather either.”

“What happened to the sound @GMB,” questioned another puzzled viewer. A third wrote: “#GMB The music stopped still no sound,” and “We couldn’t hear you @itvlondon just the @GMB music.”, reports OK!.

Others didn’t hold back when they called the silent news clips “pointless”. “#GMB That was pointless,” commented a disgruntled fan.

Earlier this week, GMB’s Ed and Susanna couldn’t resist a cheeky dig at their colleague Laura Tobin after she rocked up to work in her glitzy BAFTA gown. “Laura, we’re going to address what you came in to work wearing this morning,” quipped Susanna on Monday’s show.

Ed joined in the banter, saying: “I think it’s the dress in this photo, just before 5 am this morning,”. Viewers were treated to a snap of Laura posing in her BAFTA finery outside her dressing room.

Caught out, Laura confessed: “Oh no, I’m so embarrassed,” But Ed wasn’t letting it slide, teasing: “From the after party? Did you go all night? ” Laura was quick to clarify: “No I went to bed at a reasonable time.”

She then explained her predicament: “But I can’t unzip my dress without help so I realised when I got back to my room, no one could help me so I had to sleep in the dress,”. Ed couldn’t help but rib her further.

“That is the least convincing excuse I’ve heard in my whole life!”, he said. Standing her ground, Laura asserted: “That is the whole truth and nothing but the truth.”
