Bridgerton sex scene confessions – broken furniture and ‘thrown against desk’

Bridgerton is one of the sauciest shows on television to date – and it’s back for a brand new season!

The popular Netflix series features countless raunchy moments and many of the show’s actors have spoken out about their behind-the-scenes antics while filming. The chemistry between Nicola Coughlan and Luke Newton is undeniable – the pair even broke furniture while they were on set doing… you-know-what.

Nicola told E! News that they’d “actually been dance partners for five years” so there was a “certain physical comfort level” which “helped immensely”. Newton also explained: “It was natural, we didn’t have to do anything to like, ignite that.

“It was kind of like these characters had got there over a long period of time. They talk of Colin and Pen as the slow burn romance, but really when we got there…”

Nicola exclaimed that they “just went for it” and were even forced to “hold back on the chemistry for the first two seasons”. “Then it was like, we were ready to unleash it. We were like: ‘Here you go!’”

Luke explained that filming with Nicola was a “real safe space” for the both of them. However, their co-star Johnathan Bailey has confessed that some of the Bridgerton cast have grown tired of filming sex scenes together.

Bailey spoke to Refinery29 and said: “For us, the novelty has definitely worn off of sex scenes. It’s good that hopefully in years to come, it won’t be the big talking point that it is and has been throughout Bridgerton.”

He also said that season two’s sex scenes are “really simple” but are also “important to the story”.

Bridgerton’s spin-off show Queen Charlotte also features a number of steamy scenes across the series. The drama is loosely based on Charlotte of Mecklenburg-Strelitz’s rise to power in the late 18th century.

Sam Clemmett, who plays Brimsley in the prequel show, spoke to RadioTimes.com about working on set to film his saucy moments. He told them: “There were several times when we had to stop because I was like: ‘Ok, what I’ve done there is I’ve hurt Freddie’s back because I’ve thrown him against the desk way too hard.’ But the choreography definitely helps.”

He admitted that in the scene, there are “two people being very physical with each other” but there is also “a power play going on” which helps to give it “layers”.
