EastEnders viewers were gutted when a resident appeared to go missing.
They were disappointed during the BBC One soap on Thursday night (16 May, 2024) as Suki Panesar, played by Balvinder Sopal, was nowhere to be seen. Fan favourite character Eve Unwin, potrayed by Heather Peace, made a timely return from Brighton to attend Whitney Dean’s festive hen do.
She surprised everyone at The Queen Vic pub, showing up dressed in Suki Panesar’s signature grey coat and a black wig. Eve teased, “You just wait till you see her”, hinting at Suki making a grand entrance with a switched look.

However, fans at home were let down when the episode continued without any appearance from actress Balvinder Sopal. One disgruntled soap lover wrote on X: “Wait, so we didn’t even get to see Eve dressed as Suki. Did they (rudely) cut it, or is it tomorrows episode we get this iconic behaviour?”
Another user added: “OH THE TEASING! Seeing Suki dressed as Eve would have been so much fun. Gutted we didn’t get it, but also understandable.”
Viewers took to social media annoyed that the transformation didn’t lead to the return they’d been waiting for, with one fan posting: “I feel cheated, where was Suki as Eve?? Did I blink and miss her?”
Another user was left scratching their head, tweeting: “Wait, are we gonna see Suki dressed as Eve.” Meanwhile, other fans were over the moon for the runaway couple who dodged the wrath of the menacing Nish Panesar to find happiness in Brighton.
One viewer shared: “Knowing they made it to Brighton and probably had the most amazing time is such a lovely thought. A whole new beautiful world to experience.”, reports the Mirror. But it seems their bliss could be short-lived.
Suki and Eve’s daring escape from Walford was nearly thwarted by the sinister Nish Panesar (Navin Chowdhry), hell-bent on eliminating his romantic rival and keeping a tight grip on Suki. Despite his efforts, Nish’s violent streak was revealed, leading to his departure from Albert Square.
But Nish Panesar is set to storm back into Walford on Monday, (May 27), ready to wreak havoc on his family’s lives. His son Ravi Gulati (Aaron Thiara) is expected to bear the brunt of his dad’s tumultuous return.
Navin Chowdhry teased about what’s in store for his character, revealing: “We’ve been speaking with the execs and the writers about the journey over the next six months. Genuinely we are on the same page and it sounds really exciting.”
