Bridgerton fans were left “gagging” over a certain sex scene in the Netflix show that took things to a whole new level.
The latest series of the iconic period drama dropped this week, with part one of the streaming service drop featuring one fan-favourite scene from the novels. Said scene sees Penelope forced to return home alone from the society ball – and Colin rushes to join her in the carriage to confess his true feelings.
This all happens in episode four, and the pair begin to make out with a traditional string cover of Pitbull’s Give Me Everything playing in the background. There’s plenty of groping and an interrupted climax as the carriage arrives at Colin’s house – followed by an emotional marriage proposal, with Colin asking: “For God’s Sake, Penelope Featherington. Are you going to marry me or not?”

Fans couldn’t keep their heads as they watched the steamy events unfold on screen, and took to social media to share their thoughts. One user penned: “Nah episode four had us screaming and gagging so bad!” As someone else penned: “Bridgerton part two teaser was kinda interesting and I was gagging at the carriage scene a little bit….so maybe it’s not a total chop.”

Another fan was less impressed by the carriage scene, writing: “That’s the carriage scene everyone was gagging about….?” with a ‘meh’ GIF. Another fan, though, disagreed, penning: “Bridgerton season 3 can f***ing get it. The carriage scene is hot asf.”
It comes after actress Nicola Coughlan “demanded” to be naked on screen, confessing she lounged with no clothes on with her co-star Luke Newton between scenes. She told Teen Vogue: “It is a testament to the fact that we just got to a point where we were so comfortable together. We’d just finished the big sex scene, the most intense and involved one… and we just felt relieved.”

She added to SiriusXM Hits 1: “We would be in-between scenes, and they were like, ‘Do you wanna get up and put your clothes on?’ We’re like, ‘We’ll just chill here.’ Like, in under the blankets. But then we have the advantage of knowing each other for years.”
She branded the sex scenes “really enjoyable”, explaining: “It’s a little bit like a stunt in which they’re like, ‘OK, we’re gonna do this, this, and this.’ But then they gave us freedom to like – we had a lot of say in how we did those scenes and what we wanted to do. That makes you feel quite empowered.”

Nicola “demanded” nude scenes in the show, admitting to Stylist: “I specifically asked for certain lines and moments to be included. There’s one scene where I’m very naked on camera, and that was my idea, my choice.
“It just felt like the biggest ‘f*** you’ to all the conversation surrounding my body; it was amazingly empowering. I felt beautiful in the moment. When I’m 80, I want to look back and remember how f***ing hot I was!”
