Penny Lancaster has been forced to take a break from her frontline role with City of London Police.

Rod Stewart’s former model wife, 53, joined the force as a special constable back in 2021 but has been relegated to “desk duty” after picking up a knee injury.

The Loose Women star has revealed she’s been forced to take on a different role for the foreseeable. She told OK! Magazine: “I’m still with the City of London police but at the moment I’m not on the frontline, because I’ve got a bit of a knee injury.

“Even though it appears to be fine, the doctors have recommended that I don’t run yet – which is needed when you’re on the frontline. So I’m on desk duty for a while. I’ve been slowed down!”

Penny decided to retrain after taking part in the Channel 4 reality show, Famous and Fighting Crime, which followed Penny, Made In Chelsea legend Jamie Laing and ITV star Katie Piper, volunteering with London’s emergency services. After finishing the show, Penny went on to commit to 200 hours of work with the City of London.

Despite her rocker husband Rod’s reported £300 million fortune, he’s fully supportive of his wife’s strong sense of purpose and desire to give back. Speaking previously on The Graham Norton show, he said: “She trained for eight months, and she loves it. I backed her all the way. She says she loves giving something back, but more importantly she wants to protect the city she loves.”

Penny was part of the police team working during the King’s coronation in May last year. Speaking on Good Morning Britain at the time, the TV personality revealed: “It was the most fabulous day and of course, tremendously proud and honoured to have been given that opportunity, along with the City of London Police, that I’m a special constable for.”
