Zayn Malik had fans in floods of tears with his first solo performance this week, a whopping nine years after he waved goodbye to One Direction.
The 31-year-old heartthrob and dad-of-one, who shares little Khai with supermodel Gigi Hadid, rocked the stage at London’s Shepherd’s Bush Empire. The gig came just hours after dropping his latest album “Room Under The Stairs”.
Looking every bit the solo superstar in a black tee and what seemed like leather trousers, Zayn owned the stage, belting out tunes for the first time since his boy band days which kicked off on X Factor back in 2010.

Overwhelmed fans were quick to shower the “Pillowtalk” singer with love for his “masterpiece” of an album, confessing they were ready to weep with joy at his epic return. Hitting up Twitter, one fan gushed: “Zayn really smashed it tonight! ! ! ! !
“The vocals! the visuals! the atmosphere! ” Another chimed in: “It was definitely the best night of my life. Thank you Zayn. Thank you for always growing and showing us that if we can dream about it we can have it. So so proud you smashed it.”
A third fan gushed: “I’m so happy, I cannot put into words how proud I am of Zayn. he literally deserves it all. the show was amazing, it felt so short because we just wanted to stay there with him. the ambiance was amazing, love zquad so much! y’all are the best out there.”
Meanwhile, another admirer shared: “big thanks to AVA for this beautiful thought. I’ve watched your concert in London through my phone and I felt everything as if I was there. You were beyond amazing. You killed it. You’re back. Don’t ever doubt yourself. Sing your heart out. We will listen.”
The inked-up ex-One Direction star walked away from the band mid-tour in 2015, blaming “stress” for his shock exit. However, spilling the beans on the Call Her Daddy podcast last year, in what was his first chinwag in six years, he revealed that he clocked the band’s time was up when the lads wouldn’t sign on the dotted line for new deals.
He spilled the beans: “I knew something was happening, so I just got ahead of the curve. I was like, ‘I’m just going to get out of here, I think this is done’. I just seen it [coming] and I completely selfishly wanted to be the first person to go and make my own record. If I’m being completely honest with you, I was like, ‘I’m going to jump the gun here’.”
