Most Haunted’s Yvette Fielding claims Derek Acorah groped her while ‘faking possession’

Most Haunted star Yvette Fielding has exposed her late co-star Derek Acorah as a fraud and claimed he sexually harassed her while pretending to be possessed.

The psychic, who died in 2020, was known for his seances with celebrities and knowledge of spooky goings-on in supposedly haunted properties, but Yvette claims she was warned against hiring him because he was a “fake”. Speaking to The Sun, she claimed Acorah staged frequent toilet breaks as the “spirits were taking a toll on his body”.

But according to Fielding, Derek was actually using his phone while on the loo, searching for information about the places they were investigating so that he could use it as a revelation “from the spirit world”. She and her team pulled a Wagatha Christie, dropping false information to see if Derek would use it in the show – and he did.

But the “final straw” came when Derek started “lashing out and punching people”. Yvette told The Sun: “Everything came to a head shooting series six when Derek went into yet another alleged possession. He attacked the make-up artist and started lashing out and punching people, all while being supposedly possessed, of course. It was terrible. It was the final straw.”

Things didn’t end there, as she said the medium started to take it out on her. She alleged: “He stuck his nose in my face and spat, ‘You’re a witch. You’re a witch.’ It was obvious he really hated me. Other times, he’d say explicitly sexual things to me when he was supposedly possessed. ‘I love your breasts,’ he said. ‘You’re gonna show me your breasts. C’mon, show me your breasts.’”

Yvette said she felt as though she’d created an “egotistical monster” by hiring Acorah for the show. She says he also tried to “ram his tongue down her throat” while chasing her around a restaurant while drunk, adding: “Derek was always trying to snog me.”

Yvette says her final suspected contact with Derek came during a run of live shows in the States, when she received a threatening voicemail using a disguised voice which sounded like a mixture of a Liverpudlian accent – where Derek hailed from – and fake American.

The chilling message said someone was watching Yvette and would “get” her, and when she handed the phone over to the police, it was traced to an address near Liverpool. She chose not to pursue any further action on that occasion.

It’s not the only time the medium found himself in trouble with police. Back in 2014, he was convicted of driving without due care and attention, and failing to provide a sample of breath after a car crash. He failed a breathalyser at the roadside and refused to provide another sample at the station, and was banned from driving for 28 months with a fine of £1,000.

Acorah died in January 2020 at the age of 69 after a short illness. He was hospitalised with pneumonia and battled sepsis, losing his life in the process.
