Tom Kerridge charging eye-watering £27 for his posh fish finger sandwich

Celebrity chef Tom Kerridge has hiked the price of his posh fish finger sandwich to £27.

The TV cook used to charge £18 for it at his upmarket restaurant in swanky London department store Harrods. But the Kerridge’s fish finger sandwich has rocketed by nine quid to £27.

However, it does now come with a side such as triple-cooked chips, hardcore slaw, minted peas or broccoli. His sides usually cost either £8.50 or £9.50 so in some cases diners could save 50p.

By comparison, Tesco sells four baps for 90p and a pack of 10 fish fingers for £1.30. But foodies didn’t seem deterred by the price of Tom’s buttie.

Michael Carragher said: “Yum yum.” Ellie added: “Oooo the fish finger sandwich please.” Tom, 50, owns nine restaurants in the UK and has three Michelin stars.

In October last year, he sparked anger by charging £37 for fish and chips in Harrods. He was also blasted for charging £19.50 for a jacket potato – with some punters claiming he’s “taking the p***”.

Back in January, the Masterchef star boasted about the lunchtime light dish which comes with a cheese and ham filling. It is being sold at his The Coach gastro pub in Marlow, Buckinghamshire.

He said: “This month’s features Raclette with Sauce Reform, and let me tell you it is a work of art.” However, Chris Kelly fumed: “For £20 it should be. Fancy Spudulike.”

An online wag added: “These chefs are taking the p*ss now. What’s next? Luxury beans on toast? But TV presenter Lisa Snowdon, 52, was clearly a fan as she posted: “Yum.”

The dish was listed as ‘The Coach Baked Potato ‘Raclette’ with Sauce Reform’ on the restaurant’s website. But customers ripped into the potato, with one fuming: “But it’s a baked potato.”

Another complained: “These chefs are taking the p*** now. What’s next? Luxury beans on toast?”. A third commented: “For £20 it should be a Fancy Spudulike.”
