Oasis fans in frenzy as Liam and Noel Gallagher hint reunion with cryptic video

Noel and Liam Gallagher sparked a frenzy of Oasis reunion speculation after posting a mysterious video on their X (previously Twitter) accounts.

The warring siblings parted ways in August 2009 when a backstage argument in Paris became the last straw for songwriter Noel.

Announcing the end of Oasis, he stated at the time: “It’s with some sadness and great relief to tell you that I quit Oasis tonight. People will write and say what they like, but I simply could not go on working with Liam a day longer.”

In the ensuing years, Liam, who has since enjoyed a highly successful solo career, frequently told fans his “bags are packed” and he’s ready to reunite if his older brother extends an olive branch.

Noel, on the other hand, who now performs as Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds, consistently tells interviewers he has “no interest” in making amends.

However, there was a slight softening in his stance in 2021 when he told Jonathan Ross he’d perform with Liam again “for £100million.”

Noel and Liam have sent Oasis reunion rumours into overdrive

On Wednesday (May 22), meanwhile, the official Oasis X account shared a caption-less video featuring music and footage of Noel and Liam from 1994 – the year their debut album Definitely Maybe soared to chart-topping success.

While Liam is known for engaging with his fans on Twitter about the possibility of an Oasis reunion, Noel tends to focus on promoting his current gigs and music. But after Noel retweeted the clip too, the Oasis fanbase was buzzing with fresh hope of a comeback.

One eager fan tweeted: “This suspense is absolutely killing me…” Another pleaded: “Please tell me this is a signal for a reunion!”

The excitement reached fever pitch as a third speculated: “I know what this is. Noel probably told Liam, many years ago after the break up, ‘The next time I will play with you will be after [Manchester] City win 4 league titles in a row’. Now, he’s stuck in keeping his word.”

And a fourth hopeful added: “Please please please let this be the reunion we’re all waiting for!”

Speculation was further fuelled by Liam’s own cryptic tweet earlier this week, which he later deleted: “If I was to say Oasis was getting back together you wouldn’t believe me it’s like when MCFC get the all clear you’ll still say we cheated we can win either way or can we LG,” he wrote.

However, some sceptics think the recent social media stir is just hype for the 30th anniversary reissue of Definitely Maybe, especially since Liam is set to perform the album solo this summer.

A downbeat fan commented: “These two will never be on the same stage again,” urging others to accept that an Oasis reunion might remain a pipe dream.

And a second fan commented: “All this just for rereleased definitely maybe remastered.” While a third concurred, stating: “It’s Definitely Maybe 30th anniversary reissue that’s all. Will be slightly different than the 2014 one I have.”
