Ruth Langsford and Eamonn Holmes confessed they ‘needed space’ in unearthed clip

Ruth Langsford and Eamonn Holmes confessed they “needed space” from each other years ago.

In the lead up to their split, the TV couple confessed that lockdown had taken its toll on them, with the clip now doing the rounds on social media which follows their announcement that they will divorce.

During a TalkTV conversation amidst the Covid-19 period, the footage showed the ex-This Morning presenters confessing that they hardly spent any time together. At the time, this didn’t raise any suspicion or alarm bells but now fans are reading between the lines.

In a joint chat with host Kevin O’Sullivan, Eamonn confessed that the only time they really interacted was when they were on duty together. He revealed at the time: “Although we live together, we’re not really together, we don’t watch the same TV, Ruth likes her own space, when we do This Morning it’s a rare time we actually interrelate.”

“That’s why we’ve been together 24 years because we aren’t actually together a lot,” added Ruth. Another clip from 2018 resurfaced when the duo were still hosting This Morning, where Eamonn and Ruth had contrasting views on remaining friends with an ex.

The hosts debated if they could stay friends with a past flame in a discussion segment on the popular ITV show. Eamonn expressed his view on the topic: ‘It is easier to stay friends.”

However, Ruth held a completely different opinion, confessing: “Why would you need to stay friends, you aren’t with them anymore, you don’t need to be friends. My thing is you weren’t just friends, you were married or had a relationship.”

Friends have revealed that the couple had quietly parted ways a year ago. It has since been reported by The Sun that Ruth and Eamonn have been leading separate lives for two years.

The GB News star has faced a number of setbacks over the last few years, with Eamonn suffering from chronic pain, his mother’s death, his and Ruth’s job on This Morning, and also now his relationship breaking down and moving out of his home.

According to The Sun, a close source told the publication he’d been through so much that it would “break most people” but he has “kept on going and kept on working the best he can”.
