Love Island star’s gruesome injury weeks before ITV show led to ‘intense’ gym sessions

Love Island 2024 star Ciaran Davies had a huge bump in the road when it came to preparing for his entry to the villa – in the form of a gruesome injury.

The Welsh rugby player, who works as a surveyor, confessed that he had just a week to hit the weights after cracking his collarbone during a match. Quizzed by Daily Star and other press about his preparations, Ciaran confessed: “I found out I was going on the show, I think, on a Saturday morning.

“And that Saturday I had a rugby match after, so I was very excited but all the boys were around me and I couldn’t tell anyone. Then that same game I cracked my collarbone. So honestly all I’ve done [to get ready] is make sure it’s better, which it is now, it’s been cleared and it’s completely fine… and now I’m already back into the gym!”

The star added: “I think I had about a week before I came, so honestly I’ve never trained and been to the gym so hard in my entire life to try and get into shape, get the abs showing as much as possible. I’ve done a little bit [to prepare] but maybe not as much as I want to.”

Ciaran added that he’s prepared for all eventualities in the villa – including what to do if his ex ends up walking through those doors, as has happened in various past series. He confessed: “I’ve only got one ex, we were with each other for just under a year. We’re on quite good terms now, I met her in university, I went back with the boys and bumped into her, we had a lovely catch-up.

“So I’d probably just catch up with her, ask how she’s doing and ask about her mum and dad! That’s about it really – it wouldn’t really bother me at all, we’d probably have a good laugh with it!”

But is he afraid to step on the other boys’ toes to get his girl? Ciaran says it “depends on the situation”. He said: “If it’s early doors, straight from the get-go and one of the other boys says ‘I find her attractive’, and I also find her attractive, then I feel like it’s okay for me to go and get to know her.

“But a month down the line, for instance, and my mate has been with this girl from the start and they’ve created a really good bond and they really like each other – at that point I want to be one of the boys’ boys, I’ll let them crack on and I don’t want to interfere at all.”
