Britain’s Got Talent winner ‘exposed’ just hours before final as judge left in tears

The winner of Britain’s Got Talent 2024 has apparently already been rumbled.

Gym worker Sydnie Christmas has been wowing fans left, right and entre with her stunning vocals, leaving the judges absolutely gobsmacked in her semi-final performance. And the bookies have Sydney winning the ITV talent show as an undeniable favourite.

Ladbrokes have given the 28-year-old odds of 2/5 on her taking home the BGT crown. Hot on her heels is Alex Mitchell at 4/1, while Abigail and Afronitaa are joint third favourites at 7/1.

The other finalists have odds of 12/1 or more, and Northants Sings Out and Trixy are pegged as the underdog with 66/1 each. Ladbrokes’ Alex Apati told OK!.

He said: “We’ve seen some sensational acts along the way, but it all boils down to tonight’s final, where the odds suggest it’s going to take something pretty special to stop Sydnie Christmas from winning the series.”, reports the Mirror. In the semi-final on Friday (May 31), Sydnie sang Frank Sinatra’s My Way and bagged herself a standing ovation from the crowd.

Judge Amanda Holden was visibly moved to tears, while fellow judges Simon Cowell, Bruno Tonioli, and Alesha Dixon were left utterly astonished by the performance. Post-show, Amanda gushed: “I have to sit down; I thought I was going to pass out during that.

“Honestly, Sydnie, when we saw your audition, I had so many people come up and stop me. And tonight you have done even better. I just cannot believe your capacity, your fire, and your strength.”

Alesha Dixon couldn’t hide her excitement as she said: “My heart was pounding the whole way through that. That is the job of a singer. You are a superstar in the making.”

Bruno Tonioli was equally impressed, exclaiming: “I cannot believe it. The way you build up to the high note, hitting it with such power and clarity. It was stunning, stunning.”

Simon Cowell didn’t hold back his praise, stating: “It wasn’t a 10; it was an 11 in my opinion. If it wasn’t for people like you, I wouldn’t bother making this show. And you have to wonder who were these idiots you auditioned for that didn’t give you the break before. The only people you need to trust are the audience; they always get it right.”

Sydnie’s rendition of Frank Sinatra’s iconic ‘My Way’ during the semi-finals was not only a performance but a personal triumph. She confessed: “My voice coach had to walk me on to the stage because I was so nervous. I’m very happy it didn’t look that way because I was terrified.”

The nerves were partly due to the fact that she took a bold step in performing her own interpretation of the song. Reflecting on her choice, Sydnie remarked: “It was My Own Way, wasn’t it? I just really hoped it would land.”
