Sean Bean ‘welcome back’ to Liverpool bar after disagreement over vaping inside

Sean Bean has reportedly been told he is “welcome back” to a Liverpool bar – despite refusing to stop vaping indoors.

Legendary Yorkshire actor Sean, 65, was having a pint at iconic Liverpool venue Tom Thumb when the incident took place. The Game of Thrones star was seen getting into an argument with security staff before being asked to leave his booth and taken out.

The events of the night reportedly began earlier when Sean first arrived at the bar in the early hours of Saturday morning (June 1). As Sean came in and sat down, he was seen taking some puffs of his vape, which is illegal due to the smoking ban that was introduced in 2007.

However, despite being asked a number of times to stop vaping, Sean reportedly continued to take a puff before being asked to leave. A fan, who had arrived at the bar some 20 minutes before the altercation took place, said that Sean had left and then had come back before the disagreement took place.

The fan, who had partially filmed the fallout, said that in the ensuing incident, Sean was dragged out of the bar and given the boot. In the video, Sean could be seen to holding an apparent vape pen as the incident then got underway.

The onlooker, 35, explained that he was shocked to see acting royalty coming into the bar, and was immediately starstruck due to his appearances in Game of Thrones and Lord of the Rings. However, as the incident unfolded, the fan said it was “disappointing” to see.

“At first I thought it was for a photo, but actually he was asking Sean Bean to stop vaping in the bar,” the fan said. “Sean kept saying he could do what he wanted; to be honest he was being a right a**ehole.

“The bouncers were just doing what they do for everyone else – it was totally fair enough,” he added. “When he came back in he just started vaping again.”

The fan then said that security had asked him to leave, to which he refused, with the onlooker saying he was “clinging onto his chair” before being thrown out. He added that he felt “saddened by his smugness”, as he believed he could do anything.

Tom Thumb, the venue of the alleged incident, has denied that the incident took place, instead saying it has been “blown out of proportion”. They told the Liverpool Echo that Sean and the doorman “shook hands” outside.

Ruth Carmichael, owner and operator of Tom Thumb, said: “Sean Bean behaved fine and is a great guy, it was a misunderstanding. Sean Bean and the doorman shook hands outside the bar and Sean is welcome back anytime.”

Sean Bean’s representative has been contacted for comment.
