Love Island and The Traitors fans alike have been shaken that one of the show’s biggest stars is going into the villa.
Viewers of the hit ITV dating show were left double checking the news, before flocking to social media to let their voice be heard. The BBC star surprised everyone when he appeared on Instagram in a pair of swimming trunks to make the huge announcement.
Aaron Evans, 26, found fame when he came out on top in the first series of The Traitors, bagging himself a share of over £100k. And it seems that Love Island themselves were thrilled to have him join the cast since his stint in the British castle.

“It’s official,” the account posted. “This Brit is heading overseas to Love Island USA season 6 – tune in from June 11th.”
In another post which properly introduced the reality icon, the show gave some more stats on the hunky lad. “Name: Aaron; Age: 26; Biggest Ick: When a girl is on her phone too much,” the account penned in the caption before hashtagging Love Island USA.
Fans of the Traitors were shocked at the news, with many of Aaron’s former co-stars revelling in the announcement. Ash Bibi, who starred in the second series of the gameshow was first to throw her support behind Evans, writing: “YESSSS Aaron!! C’mmon mate, rooting for ya all the way!”
Similarly, one of Aaron’s former co-stars also came forward to wish him the best in the American villa. Wilf Webster also wrote in the comments: “Oi oi! Top man! Good luck in there!”
Evans was one of three players who walked away victorious in the first series of the show, bagging himself a share of over £100k together with Hannah and Meryl. The threesome decided to banish Wilf at the last minute, who was revealed to be the last Traitor standing.
However, it has since been revealed that The Traitors was not Aaron’s first brush with television fame. Speaking to his Youtube following after he came out of the Scottish castle, he admitted that he had tried a number of other TV shows to find his spotlight in the public eye.
He revealed that in previous years, he had appeared on a slew of other shows including fellow BBC show Mastermind. He also went on Channel 4 dating show First Dates, with eagle-eyed viewers shellshocked after spotting him in the background of one episode.
Aaron used to work as a real estate agent before he went on The Traitors and found TV success. However, he continued to enjoy his love for working, ditching glamorous homes to land a job on luxury yachts.
In a quick Q&A session with his followers, he also revealed how much Traitors contestants get paid for their time in the castle. “It’s roughly like £100 a day,” Aaron said, “it’s not that much, but it’s definitely worth it.”
Love Island USA is available to stream on ITVX.
