The One Show’s Alex Jones tears up as she states ‘our friend’ Michael Moseley is missing

The One Show’s Alex Jones was visibly moved as she discussed the disappearance of Dr Michael Mosley.

Dr Mosley, a familiar face to viewers from his appearances on The One Show, This Morning, and Trust Me, I’m a Doctor, has been missing since taking a walk on the Greek island of Symi. The BBC programme began with a tribute to the TV diet guru, highlighting the concern for his wellbeing.

Alex shared with the audience: “As you’ll have heard in the news, lots of us are concerned to hear that our friend Michael Mosley has gone missing whilst on holiday in Greece. Our thoughts are very much with his wife Clare and the rest of his family at this worrying time. We hope for more positive news.”

The hunt for the cherished television personality Dr Michael Mosley is ongoing after he vanished on a coastal trek in Symi on Wednesday afternoon. Eleftherios Papakalodoukas, the local mayor, speculated that Mr Mosley might have taken a different route or suffered a fall into the sea.

In a grim briefing, he told the BBC: “It is a very small, controlled area, full of people so if something happened to him there, we would have found him by now.”

A large-scale search operation is in progress, with resources from the Fire Brigade, Hellenic Police, Civil Protection agency, volunteers, a sniffer dog, and drones all being deployed. The fire service joined the effort on Thursday at about 11.15am, sending six firefighters, a vehicle, and a drone unit from Rhodes.

Mosley’s agent revealed to the PA news agency that he went missing. As reported by a local Facebook group, Mosley departed for a walk from Saint Nikolas Beach at 1.30pm Greek time on Wednesday and didn’t return by Thursday morning.

“We are supporting the family of a British man who is missing in Greece and are in contact with the local authorities,” said a Foreign Office spokesman.

A local resident who is friends with the person hosting Michael Mosley, discussed her confusion over Mosley’s disappearance in an area she claims is easy to navigate, during her conversation with BBC Radio 5 Live’s 5 Live Drive. “It’s a road that sort of heads over the mountainside but it’s been recently widened and there is only one route so it’s not possible to lose your way,” she shared.

She further stated: “Especially once you’ve done it once, you would know how to do it every time. But it’s not possible to get lost up there. So it is probably a 20-minute walk down the side of the mountain, but it’s not overly rugged or something that would be seen to be too dangerous, it’s something that tourists do every day in the summer.”

“I’m having trouble understanding how you could get lost,” she admitted.
