Rose Ayling-Ellis breaks silence after Giovanni Pernice’s Strictly Come Dancing axe

Rose Ayling-Ellis has made her first social media post since her Strictly Come Dancing partner Giovanni Pernice was axed from the BBC competition.

Rose and Gio lifted the Glitterball trophy together back in 2021, but since then the professional dancer has been hit with allegations of misconduct behind the scenes from past celebrity partners, reportedly including his 2023 partner Amanda Abbington.

Giovanni has vehemently denied all allegations, but his name is not included in the pro line-up for 2024. Now Rose has made her first Instagram post since the news broke that he won’t return.

Taking to her Instagram Stories this week, she decided to steer clear of commenting on her dance partner, and instead announced an exciting new project she’ll be embarking on. Rose is set to delve into her family history for an episode of Who Do You Think You Are?, alongside stars like Spice Girls’ Mel C and Olly Murs.

An announcement from Multitude Media promised: “Today, alongside the BBC, our TV team announced that Who Do You Think You Are? will be celebrating 20 years of delighting and astonishing the nation with another powerful series produced by our TV client @walltowalltv!

“The upcoming series will see Vicky McClure, Paddy McGuinness, Olly Murs, Mel C, Rose Ayling-Ellis, Gemma Collins and Jessica Ennis-Hill investigate their families’ pasts, not knowing what they might discover.”

Rose shared the news to her own account, gushing: “Very excited for this!” alongside a snap of herself in a loose black jumper and jeans, arms folded as she grinned at the camera.

It comes amid reports that Rose will keep her silence when it comes to the Giovanni debate – despite some of his other Strictly co-stars speaking out. A source told The Sun: “Rose is finding the whole situation really tough. She had a really great experience with Gio so is really shocked by it all.”

They added: “She of course believes what others are saying but she is just trying to not get involved. She won’t be speaking about it publicly.”

A statement from Giovanni said: “You will be as surprised as I am that allegations have been made about my dance teaching methods in the media this week. Of course, I reject any suggestion of abusive or threatening behaviour, and I look forward to clearing my name.

“Those who have followed my journey on Strictly Come Dancing over the last decade will know that I am passionate and competitive. No-one is more ambitious for my dance partners than me.”
