EastEnders fans reckon they have ‘rumbled’ Elaine Peacock’s new romance.
Actress Harriet Thorpe joined the cast of BBC One soap last year as Linda Knight’s mum Elaine. Elaine rocked back up to Walford as the new Vic Owner with her new family, fiancé George and his two children Gina and Anna.
However, it didn’t take long for things to take a dramatic turn between Elaine and George. In a shock twist, it was revealed that George’s ex was in fact Cindy Beale (Michelle Collins) who was supposedly killed off-screen in 1998.

Cindy and Ian Beale soon turned up to Walford – with Cindy desperate to rekindle things with George. And after George was struggling with a family fallout, the pair ended up kissing.

In typical soap fashion, Elaine found out about the kiss – leaving her heartbroken. Especially as she’s been jealous and wary of Cindy ever since she arrived back to the square.
George eventually came clean to Elaine and begged for forgiveness hoping they could move past it. But Elaine wasn’t having any of it – and ended up kicking him out of the Vic.

In recent weeks though, the pair have remained civil for the sake of their family. However, viewers reckon they have ‘worked out’ Elaine’s new love interest.
On one Reddit thread, fans shared their thoughts, with one writing: “If Elaine were back on the market, then who in the Square would she be best suited for as a new couple?”

Someone else replied: “OK don’t shoot me down here but… Phil… Current Phil has become a more mellowed character, has become a good friend to those around him and can also be rather hilarious when in the right situation.”
They went on: “Phil has also been a great AA mentor to Linda and clearly cares about her so he would make a good stepfather in any case.” A second fan wrote: “… I thought I’d be in the minority with this one.

“I feel like they would look great together, plus with Phil being Linda’s sponsor, it could foster a healthier outcome for Linda AND Elaine,” they added
A third penned: “That could work I think .. Elaine is kinda his type .. glam .. takes no crap .. x.” Someone else was too keen on that theory and pointed out: “He’s good friends with George so she should be off limits. But this is EE so who knows.”
