Alison Hammond could be saying her goodbyes to hosting For The Love Of Dogs.
The telly favourite took on hosting duties for the new series of the beloved ITV show earlier this year. She took over the role from the late Paul O’Grady, who tragically passed away last year.
After the show made its grand return, Alison received a mixed reception from viewers. And it was later reported that figures for For The Love Of Dogs dropped significantly after Alison took the reins of the show.

According to figures published by The Sun, the first episode of the new show had an average of 1.8million viewers, reaching a high of 2m at its peak. This pales in comparison to Paul O’Grady’s stint, when viewing figures were almost double this on a regular basis.

Now, after the criticism and ratings drop, bookies reckon Alison could not be making a comeback to host the show’s next series. In exclusive odds provided by BonusCodeBets, they have chalked up Alison at 13/8 (38% chance) to return to host the show.
What’s more, a PR expert exclusively told Daily Star that despite the criticism and ratings drop, Alison “seems committed to the role.” Dom Aldworth, Head of Brand Marketing at Slingo said: “Ever since Alison Hammond was announced to be the new host of For The Love of Dogs, fans of the show expressed their concerns.

“Hammond received much criticism for not owning a dog herself, with some viewers arguing it did not make her a good fit for the role. While Hammond spoke of her excitement in her new position, her debut drew 2million viewers, a stark contrast to the 4million viewers former host Paul O’Grady attracted when presenting the show.”
Dom added: “While viewership may be down and some apprehension about Hammond’s suitability, Hammond seems committed to the role.”
He then noted how despite people not wanting her to return, Alison is “undoubtedly one of the most popular TV personalities in the UK currently.” Dom added: “If TV bosses keep their confidence in Hammond, it is likely she will return to the show.”
Another PR expert, Rochelle White, also told us how “sometimes change isn’t always received well by an audience.” She added: “If Alison left, it would and wouldn’t be a blow.
“She will also get great opportunities off the back of this and she is open to new things. It would be a shame, but it could also open doors to other things,” Rochelle added.
