Love Island bombshell exposes history with Joey Essex but says he’s ‘not her type’

Love Island bombshell Grace Jackson has admitted that she has history with reality titan Joey Essex.

Jackson, 25, waltzed into the villa in Majorca alongside Wil Anderson and Tiffany Leighton at the end of Thursday night’s episode (June 13) of the ITV show. Things were all going well for the Islanders until Joey appeared to recognise Grace and exclaimed: “Oh my God.”

The trio is set to cause more tension and drama in the villa in the hopes of splitting up some couples and turning heads. However, with Grace and Joey having history together, it does not take long for the battle lines to be drawn between the pair.

In tense scenes that air on Friday (June 14), Joey turns to fellow Islander Sean and reveals that he had been dating the Mancunian model before he went into the villa. “I used to see that girl bruv… that blonde girl,” he admitted.

Joey, who is currently coupled up with sweet Scouser Samantha Kenny, watches on in horror as Grace makes herself comfortable and introduces herself to the group. But Samantha, sensing something is not right asks Joey outright: “Do you know her?”

The reality titan mumbles his response: “Yeah… it’s a long story man…” This does little to quench Samantha’s curiosity, who interrupts him and asks: “Did you used to see her?”

Later on in the show, Tiffany and Grace get a chance to sit down with the girls to get know the group better. Intrigued by the strange reception she received, fellow Islander Nicole Samuel asks Grace if she had already got a connection with Joey in the past.

Being honest with her new Islanders, Jackson explains that the pair did have history together, spilling all the tea from their relationship. “So, we met last year in Ibiza and it’s actually funny because he’s not my type at all,” she recalls.

“We had a bit of a holiday romance,” Grace continues. “It carried on when we were back home – it was quite intense.”

Grace then says that the twosome had dated in private “for a few months”, but things soon took a turn for the worse. “It kind of ended a little bit frosty to be honest and we’ve not really spoken since,” the Mancunian adds.

It comes after Samantha and Joey enjoyed a romantic date during Thursday night’s instalment of the dating show. Being whisked away to a beautiful rooftop bar, Joey had a hilarious moment where he tried – and failed – to order two cocktails in Spanish.

The pair seemed to be going from strength to strength as they got closer to each other. However, things may start getting frosty for Samantha too, as Joey admitted in a secret chat with the boys that he was “neutral” about his current coupling – could his head be turned by his former flame?
