Countryfile fans have sent messages of condolences to the host of the BBC show after he announced a very “sad passing”.
Adam Henson, who has become a favourite of the show, shared a post to his social media accounts on Saturday (June 15) that left fans shocked. He shared the sad news that one of his animals had tragically passed away.
Looking back on his time with his horse Victoria, he reflected on how farm life comes with both its ups and its downs. However, despite the sad news of Victoria’s death, there was an upside to the bittersweet story.

Writing in the caption of the post that he shared to his Instagram, Adam penned: “After the sad passing of Victoria last week, I’m delighted to share the news that my Suffolk Punch mare, Lexy, has given birth to a beautiful colt! He is doing extremely well and will be staying alongside Lexy with local expert breeders to allow them to form a strong bond together, before joining us back at Cotswold Farm Park.”
Replying to the news, many fans offered their messages of support to Adam after he lost his horse, whilst others celebrated the new arrival of the colt. One fan wrote: “So sorry for your loss but how wonderful is life to then to give you this gift.”
A second user added: “What a little beaut, we have had some lovely new season foals at my local Suffolk Punch trust home at Woodbridge. Such a beautiful horse – such a lovely out come and Lexi is such a beautiful loving mum,” before signing off with two kisses.
Many others continued to gush over the horse, with many happy that Adam’s Suffolk Punch blooding was set to continue. Others paid tribute to Victoria, paying tribute to her life and how she helped out on farm life.
Suffolk Punch horses are known for their sturdiness and their ability to be used to pull heavy farm equipment. They also played an invaluable part in the wartime effort as they were used to pull artillery machines during the course of the war.
Traditionally, Suffolk Punch horses live for between 25 and 30 years, and can weigh up to 1000kg. Adam did not reveal the name of the new-born foal to the public – which means that eager followers of the BBC star will have to wait until the horse’s name is fully revealed.
The news of Victoria’s death comes just weeks after Adam spoke candidly about his wife Charlie’s cancer diagnosis and the impact it has had on their lives. Having been diagnosed at the age of 57, she underwent surgery in 2022 – and continues to be seen by doctors, some two years after the operation.
