Coronation Street’s Joel finally caught out as mysterious newcomer issues warning

Coronation Street’s Joel Deering meets his match next week.

The Weatherfield villain, played by Calum Lill, was revealed as Lauren Bolton’s (Cait Fitton) mystery attacker last month and it looks like he has his eyes set on his next target.

In upcoming scenes, Joel spots Sabrina Adetiba (Luana Santos) in a state of distress outside the police station and learns her brother has been arrested. Joel hands her his business card and tells her to give him a call.

As Sabrina’s friend joins her, Joel heads inside, pleased to have found a new target. Next week, Sabrina’s mate reckons Joel’s a creep and she should steer well clear. Sabrina realises she’s been naive.

Whilst Dee-Dee Bailey (Channique Sterling-Brown) gets ready for their engagement lunch, Joel furtively takes a call from Sabrina’s mate, telling him he has to meet her or he’ll regret it. What do they want?

In a shock reveal in May, viewers learned in flashback scenes that Joel and Lauren had previously had a sexual relationship. Fans saw Joel grabbing the traumatised young woman and throw her to the ground before repeatedly beating her with a blunt instrument.

Actor Calum recently spoke out about the shocking truth about Joel being revealed as Lauren’s attacker, confirming that he had known where his character’s story was heading for over a year. He said at the time: “When he sees these vulnerable young women probably from broken homes, with criminal records and no-one looking out for them, he is like a shark.

“He hones in on them, coercively controls them and emotionally manipulates them using his power and money.” The soap star added that this “repetitive pattern of behaviour” is far from over, despite what happened to Lauren, saying that “we will see in the coming weeks that he is still doing it”.

Coronation Street airs Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 8pm on ITV1 and ITVX
