Emmerdale fans wait goes on as soap taken off-air again due to Euro 2024 shake-up

Emmerdale fans will have to wait longer to see what is happening in the village as the ITV show is once again taken off-air.

The soap has seen some strong storylines take place over the last couple of weeks, including Belle Dingle’s harrowing domestic abuse storyline. Tensions were rising in Monday night’s episode (June 24), when controlling husband Tom King – played by James Chase – took his reign of terror to the next level.

After Belle – played by Eden Taylor-Draper – had an abortion of their child and feigned this as a miscarriage, deranged Tom caught wind of her deceit. He only discovered this after Noah Dingle unintentionally helped Tom put two and two together.

The ensuing scenes saw Tom fly into a huge rage, taking his anger out on Belle in harrowing scenes that left viewers wincing. This is now the latest in a series of abusive incidents that have left Belle traumatised both emotionally and physically.

But as the drama continues to rise in Emmerdale, fans of the show will have to wait longer to see what will happen to Belle. This comes as the Euro 2024 football tournament heats up, as England takes on Slovenia in the last group match before the knockout stages.

Emmerdale has been keeping viewers gripped since Belle first made moves to get out of her marriage to twisted vet Tom. After falling pregnant with his child, Belle knew she needed to get out of the toxic environment and realised it was not a healthy space to bring up a baby.

It seemed that Belle was ready to pack her bags and leave Tom for good after a refreshing chat with Rachel, her Mental Health Care Coordinator. As she spoke with her counsellor, Belle’s eyes were opened to the horrific trauma she has been put through.

However, just as she was about to leave, she got the news that Tom had been rushed to hospital. In the midst of taking his anger out about her betrayal, Tom hit the barn’s rotary isolator with a metal bar, which prompted an electric shock and left him unresponsive.

Luckily for Tom, fellow vet Paddy Kirk was able to find him and take him to the hospital. When Tom awoke and found Belle during a visit, he made the promise that he would “never leave” her – which means Belle’s torment could be going on for much longer.

Fortunately for soap fans, not all is lost as Euro 2024 continues to heat up. BBC viewers will get to catch up on EastEnders as the show returns to screens on Tuesday (June 25), though the episode has already been released on iPlayer.

Emmerdale is available to stream on ITVX.
