MAFS star ditches ‘dad bod’ as he flaunts ripped abs in major body transformation

Married At First Sight Australia star Cameron Merchant forced fans to do a double take as he showed off his weight loss transformation just one week after suffering with a terrible ‘Bali belly’.

Last week, the reality star was rushed to hospital during his holiday after the Aussie hunk confessed he was struck down with a terrible illness on the tropical island. The 40-year-old TV personality had been putting in the hours to get into shape and has since “replaced his spare tyre with a six-pack.”

But Cameron refused to let the gruelling illness throw him off track. Taking to Instagram, he showcased his trim figure and flashed his newfound abs to his loyal legion of fans.

Sharing a before and after picture, he shared a lengthy caption about his journey so far. He wrote: “The goal was simple… Commit to getting stronger every day.

“Physically, Mentally, Emotionally, Spiritually. To be honest, I thought this dad bod was here for life and I was totally fine with that. But it wasn’t about that, it was for more energy, vibrancy and being stronger and more present for my family and life.

“Been a wild ride the last 12 months but I made a decision and gave myself permission to Rest, Restart and allow myself to Refocus on all the magic that is possible in this world. I committed to change, discipline, creating an (at times very uncomfortable) morning routine and gave myself grace along the way when days didn’t go to plan and I had a heap of fun doing it!

“I have loved the process of what it has brought me and dare say through it I’m addicted and now committed to another level.” The star urged followers to take inspiration from his transformation and get fit this summer.

He went on: “All I know is that when you commit and find your reason, anything is possible for you in every aspect of life! So get it whatever it is you want. I’m here to cheer you on every morning, every step, all the way!”

There’s been plenty of support for Cameron along the way. The reality star, who first rose to fame on MAFS Australia back in 2019, found love with his now-wife Jules Robinson, 42, on the programme.

The dating experts clearly worked their magic on the show with the couple going on to make things official by tying the knot after filming had wrapped up. Jules and Cameron soon became parents for the first time in September 2020 where they welcomed their baby boy, Oliver.

Thankfully the doting dad is feeling a lot better after his holiday ordeal. Cam had flown out to the holiday destination for a friend’s wedding earlier this month, but his getaway soon took an unexpected turn.

Taking to his Instagram Story, he shared the grisly ordeal with his supportive fans online. He explained: “Bali belly strikes. Turn of events, up from 2.30am in a world of hurt and depleted of everything within me.”

The reality star was later put on a drip to help combat dehydration caused by the relentless sickness. Despite the setback, he still managed to keep his spirits up, albeit with a dash of sarcasm about his uncomfortable predicament.

He continued: “Well this is fun… Not such a moment of joy. The cold shivers, the shakes, the hot sweats… make up your mind Bali belly, which one is it? One depleted human right here, right now.”
