Glastonbury isn’t just about the music and the revelry – apparently it could be a UFO hotspot too.
Over the years there have been several reports of spooky goings on near the festival site in Pilton, Somerset, with people claiming they’ve seen lights and suspicious orbs. One pair were even convinced they had seen a flying saucer as they stood in one of the fields.
While some of the sightings may be put down to people being a little the worse for wear after partying, some of the sightings have been reported by people who were sober at the time. So is there something extraterrestrial going on in the skies above Worthy Farm?

We have a look back at some of the unusual sightings that have been reported.
Flying saucer over jazz tent
In 2009, it was revealed that two revellers at Glastonbury had claimed to have seen a UFO during the festival. The apparent sighting had actually been in 1994, but only came to light when government files were released.
The man and woman who reported the incident said they had seen what they thought was a flying saucer over the jazz tent and that they were sober when it happened. According to reports at the time, the woman said she saw a “twirling set of moving lights attached to what must have been a circular object”. “It was unlike anything we knew,” she said.
“What made me feel this was (a UFO) was that the lights were below this circular object and flashing in a way that was communicating to us. It was also silent and the way it glided was the smoothest and most effortless motion I had seen in the sky.”
Mysterious lights
In 2003 mysterious lights were spotted at the festival when the bands R.E.M. and Radiohead were top of the bill. The curious incident didn’t emerge until 2011, when another batch of Ministry of Defence files were made public.
The report said that the unusual lights were seen hovering above Glasto’s Pyramid Stage, with the person who saw them unable to work out what they could be. However, it has since been suggested that the lights may well have been Chinese lanterns, which were apparently being set off in the area at the time.
Strange orb
In 2015, festival-goers were convinced an unidentified flying object was floating in the sky just as The Chemical Brothers were about to start their set. One person in the crowd managed to capture the object on film, with the footage now on YouTube.
The clip was taken as it was getting dark and showed music fans dancing. Whoever was recording suddenly panned up to show a bright orb in the sky, with clearly defined beams coming off it. It was later seen again, glowing bright orange through the trees.
While some fans claimed it could be something extraterrestrial others weren’t sure, with a few suggesting the light may have been a flare.
